Raphael’s beautiful brushstrokes in the Raphael Rooms at the Vatican…The dreadful Heliodorus sent to steal the riches from the Temple of Solomon - miraculously sent packing by the prayers of the Priest who sent a mighty Golden Clad Horseman with two ethereal helpers to beat out the thief. And as it turns out … he could have been ‘s ugly ancestor!!!?? Wonder if he visited the today as he is playing in Rome tonight at and I’ll be in the 2nd row… !!

Napoleon held Pius VII captive first in Savona and then Fontainebleau for being so stubborn (and not giving him support… or a divorce!) and in the mean time looted the Vatican Collections…. Took Raphael, The Laocoön, The Belvedere Apollo… and much more where he bolstered the Louvre with it and even tho the congress of Vienna in 1815 saw some returned - they still have bits of it to this day!
on the exit route of the museums…moonrocks at the vatican and a flag that’s been to the Moon! What a gift from Apollo 11 and an unexpected surprise for the careful visitor to find after seeing the Sistine Chapel.

has an ugly brother in the Raphael rooms guys! I couldn’t unsee this after seeing him in Milan this Sunday. And if you guys have been on my tour then Matt’s comedy probably isn’t too far out for you!!
Pope Paul V Borghese - the same fella who stuck his name out front of St Peter’s Basilica - Also restored and ancient Roman Aquaduct, completed in 1614, bringing the water to Rome on the Trastevere side of the River from Bracciano Lake (Where Tom Cruise Married Katie Holmes!). However - being LAKE water it wasn’t that great - so inspired the saying in Trastevere that if something is like the Pauline Water then it really isn’t worth much!!
