Pontifical Scots College, Rome

Today we celebrated the ordination to the diaconate of Gerard Holden from the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh. Together with members of the Beda College community, we congratulate Gerard and all those ordained today, and assure them of our prayers and best wishes as they begin their diaconal ministry.

On Sunday 10th May, our seminarians and formators took some time together in fraternity and went on a college gita. We celebrated Mass with the parish community at the Santuario di Fonte Colombo before visiting the site of St Francis’ first crib at Greccio and then having lunch together.

The third instalment of the 7-a-side Coppa di San Paolo proved a great success—the fruit of three years of growing cooperation between the Scots College and the Beda College, who this year fielded a joint team with Scots, Beda and VEC seminarians aptly named SCODA. Held on the eve of Good Shepherd Sunday at the parish grounds of San Leonardo Murialdo Roma, the tournament resonated with the Church’s celebration of vocations to the priesthood. Congratulations to the Legionaries of Christ, who secured a 2–0 victory over the Augustinians, taking home the coveted silverware along with a well-earned bottle of Lagavulin!
