Rooted in ancient Piedmont soils, we craft small-batch wines from hand-picked grapes, guided by terroir, sustainability, and a deep respect for native varieties.

We’re incredibly proud to share that our Barbera has been awarded 90 points by Decanter.

As a team, moments like this mean a great deal because they reflect years of work in the vineyard, in the winery and behind the scenes. Every bottle is the result of many hands, many decisions and a shared commitment to making wines that truly reflect where we are.

Barbera has always held a special place in our hearts. It is one of Piemonte’s great native varieties, woven into the history, culture and everyday life of this region. It’s a wine that feels honest and authentic to who we are and the place we call home.

As conversations around sustainability continue to shape the future of wine, we believe native varieties have an important role to play. These grapes belong here. They have adapted to our soils and climate over generations and are an important part of preserving both the character and resilience of our region.

To see a traditional Piemonte Barbera recognised on an international stage is something we’re immensely proud of.

A heartfelt thank you to our entire team for their dedication and care, and to everyone who continues to support Tenuta Il Finale and share our wines around their tables.

Here’s to Barbera, to Piemonte, and to the people who make it all possible. 🍷

The vineyards are looking their best right now. Lush green rows, grape bunches starting to form, and long sunny days in the vineyard.

There’s still a long way to go until harvest, but it’s always exciting to see the vintage beginning to take shape.

So far, so good. ☀️🍇

What’s on the table in our winery this month?
Zucchini with a chilled glass of Arneis.

If June in Piemonte had a flavour, it would zucchini! Right now, zucchini are everywhere in Italy, and one of our favourite ways to enjoy them is stuffed zucchini flowers — a local speciality that appears on tables across the region as summer begins.

And if we’re pouring a wine alongside, it’s almost always Arneis.

The delicate floral notes of Arneis mirror the zucchini flowers beautifully, while its fresh acidity cuts through the richness of the filling without overpowering the dish. It’s one of those pairings that feels completely effortless — as though the food and wine were always meant to be enjoyed together.

Simple seasonal ingredients. Local wine. A long lunch outside.

This is June in Piemonte.

Planting native Piemonte varieties wasn’t about preserving the past. It was about preparing for the future.

When we planted our vineyard, choosing native Piemonte varieties wasn’t a romantic decision. It was a practical one.

These vines have spent generations adapting to this landscape. They’ve lived through droughts, wet seasons, heat, cold, changing weather patterns and everything in between. They know this place far better than we ever will.

In a world where agriculture faces increasing uncertainty, there’s something powerful about working with varieties that have already proven their resilience over centuries. Our old vine Barbera and Dolcetto aren’t just part of Piemonte’s history. They may well be part of its future.

Sometimes the most forward-thinking decision isn’t introducing something new.
It’s trusting what has survived.

If summer had a flavour, it would be Rosato. ☀️🍷

As soon as the weather warms up, Rosato is what we find ourselves reaching for.

Fresh, vibrant and full of character, it’s the perfect wine for long lunches, aperitivo with friends and warm evenings outdoors.

At Tenuta Il Finale, we make two Rosatos:

🌸 Rosato di Barbera – light, elegant and refreshing, with delicate floral notes and bright red berry fruit.

🍓 Rosato di Dolcetto – a little fuller, with juicy strawberry notes and a lovely softness on the palate.

They’re quite different, but honestly, we couldn’t choose a favourite. It usually just depends on what’s on the table.

Will Rosato be your summer wine?

Low intervention farming doesn’t mean doing less.

It means paying attention to everything. 🌱

At this time of year, humidity in the vineyard can quickly create the perfect conditions for disease. Because we don’t rely on herbicides or heavy chemical intervention, we have to work even closer with the land — watching the vines daily, managing airflow, maintaining balance, and mechanically cutting the undergrowth beneath the rows.

This is the reality of sustainable vineyard farming here in Piemonte: more observation, more care.

The grasses and cover crops between the vines are not “weeds” to us. They help regenerate soil health, support biodiversity, control vine vigour, and naturally nourish the vineyard. But they must also be carefully maintained so they don’t trap excess humidity or compete too aggressively with the vines.

In our vineyards every pass through the rows is about prevention, balance, and respect for the ecosystem — all to grow healthier grapes with as little intervention as possible.

This is farming with nature, not against it. 🍇

May in our Piemonte vineyard 🌿

The first buds are here — tiny signs of a new vintage beginning at Tenuta Il Finale. Every season starts quietly, and this is where the story of our wines begins.

Spring in Piemonte is pure magic. 🍇

Maggio in vigna 🌿

I primi germogli sono spuntati: piccoli segni di una nuova annata che inizia alla Tenuta Il Finale. Ogni stagione inizia in silenzio, ed è qui che inizia la storia dei nostri vini.

The Slow Food movement and the dedication of our local farmers helped save our local artichoke from disappearing forever…

This weekend our home village, Costigliole d’Asti celebrated our local artichoke and through the stories shared we now understand why locals fought so hard to protect it.

The Ca****fo del Sorì is unlike any artichoke we’ve tasted before — thornless, incredibly tender, naturally sweet, and shaped by the same sun-drenched hills that produce some of Piemonte’s greatest wines.

For generations, local families planted them alongside the vineyards, creating a tradition deeply connected to the land. But industrial farming nearly wiped this ancient variety out. Faster-growing commercial crops replaced many local traditions, and with them, part of the region’s agricultural identity almost disappeared.

Walking through the festival this weekend, sharing food, wine, and stories with locals, you could feel the pride in preserving something so deeply tied to these hills.
We tasted artichoke flan, crispy fritters and raw shaved carciofi over carne cruda — simple dishes that somehow tell the story of Piemonte village better than words ever could.

This is what we love most about life here:
traditions protected because they still matter to the people who call this place home.

Sustainability isn’t a choice for us. It’s how wine has always been made here in Italy.

In Piemonte, rosato was never created as a “style.” It came from a simple, practical moment during red winemaking — when a small amount of juice is gently drawn off early in the process.

Nothing added. Nothing wasted.
Just a natural way to bring balance to the wine. That juice becomes rosato — fresh, structured, and deeply connected to the craft.

For our first release, we’ve stayed true to place. Made only from Barbera and Dolcetto — the grapes that belong to these hills. They thrive in our soils, which means: less water, fewer treatments, and minimal intervention in the vineyard.

This is sustainability, the way it should be —
not imposed, but inherent.

A new wine for us, but a story that has always existed here.

Our Rosato.
