I spoke on the psychosocial impact of vitiligo, but what stood out most wasn’t the panel.

It’s how the space is starting to change.

For years, vitiligo has been treated as something cosmetic.

Visible, but not always taken seriously. And when something isn’t measured, it’s easy to overlook.

That’s shifting.

Frameworks like VASI are doing more than tracking skin, they’re forcing structure into a space that has lacked it for too long.

And once there’s structure, there’s accountability.

What I saw in Denver wasn’t just progress in treatment but a system beginning to form, where research, patient experience, and clinical work are starting to align.

Still early. Still gaps. Especially in how people experience it day to day.

But the direction is clearer now.

I’m not here to “fix” vitiligo.

I’m here to understand it, work with it, and support solutions that actually respect the people living with it.

Not everything that’s visible is understood. That’s the gap I’m interested in.

This past sunday marked a milestone as we hosted the very first "vi-TEA-ligo" ☕️meetup in Manchester. After an initial setback, this gathering was exactly what I was hoping for.

With the solid support of Nirjeet Singh Gorvara (thevitiligosikh) and The Vitiligo Society we turned the vision into reality.

🙌I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who shared our posts and helped spread the message. Your contribution made the difference.

Exactly as planned, we spent quality time exchanging stories, learning from each other's experiences, and getting useful insights. Our discussions were wide-ranging, covering the viewpoints of those living with vitiligo, curious parents, and family members seeking understanding.

📸The photos speak volumes about the connections we established and the community we're building. Looking back at my childhood, this was not there and even now, the absence of a safe space offline for sharing experiences with vitiligo, wasn’t there.

That's why we created this meetup—to offer support and solidarity. Now, people with vitiligo have a safe space to connect and share, ending the isolation many feel.

Nirjeet, thank you for joining forces with me to raise awareness here in Manchester. This is just the beginning of our journey.

❓Let me ask you a question: Does living with vitiligo weigh heavily on you and those around you? Our mission is bigger than just educating and or pointing you in the right direction—it's about building confidence, pride, and acceptance. Can we spread this confidence to the north together?

Vi-tea-ligo (love this!!) is being organised by in the morning on Sunday 3rd March in Manchester City Centre. Open to a small group, it’ll be a great opportunity to connect and share your experience with vitiligo. There will be some focus on talking about:

- Mental health and vitiligo
- Anecdotes about vitiligo
- Ways to cope with vitiligo and more

This is an inclusive event, you don’t have to have vitiligo to participate. This is open to life students, open-minded, curious people who want to spend an alternative Sunday morning learning and discovering the beauties of the human canvas!

Life is a balance of holding on and letting go. We stand firm, rooted in our beliefs, our values, our identity. Yet, we also learn to let go, to surrender to the flow of life, to accept change and growth.

But remember, what you see with your eyes is not always the reality. The true essence of life is felt with the heart. It’s the courage in standing firm, the relief in letting go, the joy and sorrow, love and loss.
