PhEST è fotografia, cinema, musica, arte, contaminazioni dal Mediterraneo.
A Monopoli, tutto parte dall’ascolto.
Per Pelo e contropelo, Giuseppe De Mattia raccoglie parole, conversazioni e pettegolezzi ascoltati in città. Li trascrive a mano e, con il nostro team di “attacchinaggio”, li porta sui muri del centro storico, trasformando il privato in qualcosa di pubblico.
Da lì il lavoro continua: genera commenti, reazioni, curiosità. I pettegolezzi tornano alla città da cui provengono, in una forma nuova e condivisa.
E un grazie va anche a uno dei tanti amici di PhEST, Deni Bianco, che da lontano ci ha dato dritte preziose per l’attacchinaggio.

For Pelo e contropelo, Giuseppe De Mattia collects words, conversations and local gossip, then writes them by hand and, together with the PhEST wheatpasting team, brings them onto the walls of the old town.
From there, the work keeps moving: sparking comments, reactions and curiosity, as private words return to the city in a new, shared form.

Undici edizioni dopo, PhEST continua a partire da una domanda.: What If? invita a spostare il punto di vista, a mettere in discussione ciò che sembra già scritto, a immaginare possibilità diverse.

Eleven editions on, PhEST continues to take its cue from a single question: ‘What If?’ It invites us to shift our perspective, to question what seems set in stone, and to imagine different possibilities.
