What to do with a humanity that is sick, yet wears makeup of health, self-control, and happiness?
We live in a society that insists on showing itself as happy, perfect, and in control,
while hiding its pain —the pain of the world— under layers of makeup.
We repeat and repeat because we have learned nothing about power
and the violence that comes from trying to sustain it.

Algorithmic manipulations, geopolitical conflicts, and a world in disguise.
Ukraine devastated, and Gaza… Gaza under siege. Caged.
Annihilated little by little.
Bombings, drones dressed like toys.
Today, bullets to the forehead, tomorrow to the legs.
Every day, killing slowly through hunger.
Women. Children. Proper names.
Genocide in plain sight. Extermination.

We know it.
We see it on social media.
And the world, masked with power and profiles of happiness,
only sighs at the images.

We must name without fear. Point out.
Fascisms, Nazisms with names of their own.
Impunity: Netanyahu, Trump, Putin, Orbán, Xi Jinping.
Bodies without soul. Bodies without soul.
And Europe remains silent.

If you have no power or wealth, you have no rights.
No one will do anything for them.
We should not even be able to breathe.
I can’t breathe. I can’t even breathe.

This space is a crack in that surface:
an invitation to look straight at what makes us vulnerable,
to dismantle the masks, to see ourselves as humanity,
and to open a space for a voice that cannot always speak with words.

La jornada Reflexions sobre les representacions i contra-representacions de la violència masclista en la història de l’art es va fer el 13 de novembre de 2024. Es tracta d’una jornada amb diferents ponents convidats (artistes i teòrics/ques de l’art) centrada en les representacions i contra-representacions de les violències masclistes en la història de l’art. Incideix, per tant, en una de les problemàtiques de la societat actual per generar noves narratives i proposar pràctiques que trenquin amb les dinàmiques hegemòniques que han configurat l’ordre simbòlic dominant, masculí, burgès, heteronormatiu i occidental. Organitzada pel grup d’innovació docent Polifonies, integrat per Tania Alba, Laia Manonelles, Laura Mercader, Nuria Peist i Victor Ramírez (departament d’Història de l’Art de la Universitat de Barcelona, amb el suport del Consell Interuniversitari de Catalunya)
