In questo regno, il nero non è assenza di luce, ma materia viva. È una sostanza primordiale che si piega, si stratifica e respira. Il viaggio inizia nel dettaglio, tra le trame di un piumaggio che ricorda colate laviche raffreddate; ogni penna è una tegola di ossidiana, un’armatura tessuta per resistere al vento che sferza le scogliere. Qui, l’anatomia del corvo e la geografia del luogo si specchiano l’una nell’altra. Il suo habitat è una terra di fuoco spento e di pietra antica, dove montagne silenziose si allungano verso cieli di piombo. Il suo occhio vigile è l’unico testimone di questo teatro desolato e magnifico. Queste immagini non raccontano solo la vita di un animale, ma tracciano la mappa di un’anima selvaggia. Il corvo è il guardiano della soglia, il re di un impero fatto di roccia, sale e silenzio, dove ogni ombra ha un peso e ogni volo è un atto di assoluta libertà.

In this realm, black is not the absence of light, but living matter. It is a primordial substance that bends, layers itself, and breathes. The journey begins in the details, among the textures of plumage that resemble cooled lava flows; each feather is a shard of obsidian, an armor woven to withstand the winds that lash the cliffs. Here, the anatomy of the raven and the geography of the land mirror one another. Its habitat is a land of extinguished fire and ancient stone, where silent mountains stretch toward leaden skies. Its watchful eye is the only witness to this desolate and magnificent theatre. These images do not tell only the story of an animal’s life, but trace the map of a wild soul. The raven is the guardian of the threshold, the king of an empire made of rock, salt, and silence, where every shadow carries weight and every flight is an act of absolute freedom.

UN ABISSO CHIAMATO AMORE di Camilla Chiappero Chiappero Camilla

Questo progetto fotografico nasce dall’esigenza di raccontare la perdita in tutte le sue sfumature, non come un momento unico e definito, ma come un processo complesso, fatto di presenza e assenza che convivono nel tempo. La prima fase esplora la perdita nella quotidianità: l’assenza di una persona non è mai totale, ma continua a vivere negli oggetti, nei luoghi e nei gesti ripetuti ogni giorno. Una convivenza silenziosa, dove il ricordo si intreccia alla realtà e trasforma ciò che ci circonda in una presenza costante, anche se invisibile. La seconda fase si sviluppa come un percorso emotivo instabile, fatto di alti e bassi, in cui si alternano speranza e consapevolezza. Ogni illusione è temporanea, ma proprio
alla fine si apre una nuova possibilità: ritrovare, in qualche modo, chi abbiamo perso.

This photographic project stems from the need to explore loss in all its nuances, not as a single, defined moment, but as a complex process in which presence and absence coexist over time.
The first phase explores loss within everyday life: the absence of a person is never complete, but continues to exist through objects, places, and the gestures repeated each day. It is a silent coexistence, where memory intertwines with reality, transforming what surrounds us into a constant presence, even when invisible.
The second phase develops as an unstable emotional journey, shaped by moments of hope and awareness that continuously alternate. Every illusion is temporary, yet it is precisely at the end of this process that a new possibility emerges: to somehow find again the person we have lost.

A NON FAIRY, TALE. di Lorenzo Levi Lorenzo Levi

“A non Fairy, Tale.” è nato dall’osservazione della regione in cui sono nato, dove sono cresciuto e da cui mi sono trasferito: la Valle d’Aosta.
Questo lavoro è nato dall’interpretazione personale e contemporanea del folklore locale. Dalla grande collezione di leggende, miti e personaggi immaginari che ancora oggi vengono trasmessi di generazione in generazione. Ispirato ai racconti dei fratelli Grimm, ho deciso di raccontare con le immagini la mia fiaba di questa regione e dei suoi abitanti, cercando di mettere in luce la sua cultura ed i suoi problemi sociali.
I protagonisti di questo racconto non sono creature leggendarie: ma gli abitanti, i luoghi e il folklore della regione.
“A non Fairy, Tale.” vuole essere un racconto contemporaneo che collega passato e presente, realtà e immaginazione.

Here’s the translation:

“A non Fairy, Tale.” was born from the observation of the region where I was born, where I grew up, and from which I later moved away: the Aosta Valley. This work was created through a personal and contemporary interpretation of local folklore, drawing from the vast collection of legends, myths, and imaginary figures that are still passed down from generation to generation today. Inspired by the tales of the Brothers Grimm, I chose to tell, through images, my own fairy tale of this region and its inhabitants, highlighting its culture as well as its social issues.
The protagonists of this story are not legendary creatures, but rather the people, places, and folklore of the region.
“A non Fairy, Tale.” aims to be a contemporary narrative that connects the past and the present, reality and imagination.

In un periodo buio e in un momento di profondo sconvolgimento nella sua vita personale, la fotografa olandese e madre di sei figli Marjolein Martinot si è ritrovata smarrita, alla ricerca di un rinnovato senso di sé. Durante le serate e alle prime luci dell’alba, ha cercato conforto nella natura, recandosi a piedi presso un fiume vicino nel sud della Francia con la macchina fotografica in mano. Lì, ha catturato la tranquilla bellezza del mondo naturale nella luce dorata del tramonto e dell’alba, creando legami con gli animali e le famiglie che incontrava sulle rive del fiume - mentre saltavano, sguazzavano, si arrampicavano e dondolavano dagli alberi. Quello che era iniziato come un rituale di vagabondaggio senza meta e di fotografia si è presto trasformato in una forma di diario visivo - una tranquilla meditazione sulla guarigione e la trasformazione.

Esiste un confine tra l’ambiente che creiamo e quello plasmato dalla natura oltre noi? De Rerum Natura – latino per “La natura delle cose” o “Le cose della natura” – esplora il dialogo tra gli esseri viventi e la materia inanimata, tracciando i mutevoli confini tra naturale e artificiale e riconsiderando il posto dell’umanità all’interno di questo continuum.
Il progetto adotta una visione materialista in cui gli esseri umani non sono eccezioni alla natura, ma sue espressioni: un fenomeno pensante e collettivo. Da questa prospettiva, esiste un solo ambiente: un insieme unitario in cui tutto, compresi noi stessi e le nostre creazioni, emerge come conseguenza naturale.
La serie presenta una raccolta di tracce – una meditazione visiva sul Tecnocene – gettando nuova luce sulla “natura umana” e su cosa significhi essere umani in un’epoca in cui natura e artificio sono indissolubilmente intrecciati.

Da molto tempo ballo e frequento locali e festival di musica elettronica. È diventato così importante per me che fa ormai parte della mia routine quotidiana, parte della mia identità. Uscire e andare a ballare è qualcosa che non riesco a immaginare di non poter fare. Sento un desiderio viscerale di muovere il mio corpo, non solo per il mio amore per la musica. Le persone ritratte in queste foto sono creature della notte che ho incontrato sulla pista da ballo a New York e che, come me, condividono la mia stessa passione. La pista da ballo è un modo per noi di fuggire dal mondo e dai nostri pensieri; entriamo in sintonia con la musica e ci perdiamo per ore. Ed è in questo vortice che accade qualcosa di magico. Qualcosa di difficile da esprimere a parole. Mentre ci immergiamo in un vortice musicale che ci travolge e ci riempie di gioia.

For a long time, I’ve been dancing and going to electronic music clubs and festivals. It has become so important to me that it is now part of my daily routine, part of my identity. Going out and dancing is something I can’t imagine living without. I feel a visceral desire to move my body, not only because of my love for music.
The people portrayed in these photographs are creatures of the night whom I met on the dance floor in New York City and who, like me, share the same passion. The dance floor is a way for us to escape from the world and from our thoughts; we tune into the music and lose ourselves for hours. And it is within this whirlwind that something magical happens. Something difficult to put into words. As we immerse ourselves in a musical vortex that overwhelms us and fills us with joy.

La bellezza dell’Iraq, nonostante tutto: la violenza neocoloniale occidentale, nostra, e un modo di vivere il Pianeta come fosse una Kodak usa e getta. Non mi sono mai sentito così a casa come tra gli iracheni, un popolo splendido, accogliente, resistente, che mi ha ricordato il valore del senso di comunità, cannibalizzato dalle nostre parti in favore di un individualismo sfrenato e atono. In quei mille impolverati chilometri percorsi ho visto tutto ciò che non sapevo di cercare: le crepe nei sorrisi furtivi, le centinaia di tè al cardamomo, i mercati insanguinati, le paludi e i loro canti, le moschee scintillanti, le mazzette per entrare nel palazzo di Saddam e Babilonia ai suoi piedi, i cantieri a Mosul, la luce della Luna ad Hatra, la neve a Lalish, le donne coi selfie stick a Erbil, le battute sull’Italia ai checkpoint: l’Iraq è più vivo che mai, nonostante tutto.

The beauty of Iraq, despite everything: the Western neocolonial violence, ours, and a way of inhabiting the planet as if it were a disposable Kodak camera. I have never felt more at home than among the Iraqis: a wonderful, welcoming, resilient people who reminded me of the value of community, cannibalized where we come from in favor of a frantic, hollow individualism. Across those thousand dusty kilometers, I saw everything I didn’t know I was searching for: the cracks behind fleeting smiles, the countless cardamom teas, the bloodstained markets, the marshlands and their songs, the shimmering mosques, the bribes to enter Saddam’s palace and Babylon lying at its feet, the construction sites in Mosul, the moonlight over Hatra, the snow in Lalish, the women with selfie sticks in Erbil, the jokes about Italy at the checkpoints. Iraq is more alive than ever, despite everything.

BUIO INODORE di Zoe Ferrara

Buio Inodore è una raccolta di fotografie, testi e frottage sviluppata tra il 2021 e il 2026 nel quartiere Anticaglia, a Napoli. Nasce dall’incontro tra questo luogo e una condizione interiore segnata da sogni lucidi e dalla progressiva presa di coscienza della mia disforia. L’Anticaglia, luogo in cui passato, presente e forse futuro convivono, diventa soglia e teatro del mio altrove. Letteralmente “robe vecchie”, è una presenza in sordina insieme alla notte: qui il visibile e l’invisibile coesistono, corpo e luogo si deformano, il vicolo può diventare mare o non esistere. Tra fotografia staged, immagini più istintive, testi e frottage blu, il lavoro tenta di farsi linguaggio e mappa per orientarmi nell’alterazione del reale. “Questa strada dove vivo io non l’ho mai vista” è una frase che continuo a ripetere.

Buio Inodore is a collection of photographs, texts, and frottages developed between 2021 and 2026 in the Anticaglia district of Naples. It emerged from the encounter between this place and an inner condition marked by lucid dreams and the gradual awareness of my dysphoria. Anticaglia — literally “old things” — is a place where past, present, and perhaps future coexist, becoming both threshold and stage for my elsewhere. A quiet presence alongside the night, it is a space where the visible and the invisible coexist, where body and place distort, where the alley can become the sea or cease to exist altogether. Through staged photography, more instinctive images, texts, and blue frottages, the work attempts to become both language and map — a way for me to navigate the alteration of reality. “This street where I live, I have never seen it before” is a sentence I keep repeating.

Questa è una storia sull’adolescenza e l’infanzia, sulla libertà, su Palermo e la sua luce, sul suo potere femminile. Un racconto sulle bambine e adolescenti che crescono in un quartiere molto complesso di Palermo: Danisinni. È un luogo che da tempo cerca di rinascere, soprattutto grazie a Fratel Mauro, che lavora ogni giorno, concentrandosi sulle risorse del quartiere, sulla sua bellezza e sui suoi giovani. Una saracinesca di un garage su cui spicca la scritta “Lasciare Libero Grazie”, sembra quasi il loro manifesto. Certi giorni il sole abbaglia più di altri e illumina tutto, acceca. Le bambine animano il quartiere, lo rendono vivo, le loro voci riempiono l’aria, le loro ombre si stagliano e le accompagnano ovunque. I giorni che passano mai uguali, ma sempre nelle stesse strade, la complicità, i loro codici, i cavalli simbolo del quartiere e le emozioni che si manifestano nella forma più autentica. La vita, nella sua essenza, non è altro che questo.

A story about a group of girls growing up in one of Palermo’s most historically complex neighborhoods: Danisinni. It is a place that has long been trying to revive. Brother Mauro working hard on a daily basis, focusing on the neighborhood’s resources, beauty, children and youth. This is a tale about young women, about freedom, about Palermo and its feminine power that overwhelms and disrupts. A garage shutter where the words, “Lasciare Libero Grazie” (Leave free passage, thank you) stand out seems to be almost a poster. The girls enliven the neighborhood, make it alive, their voices fill the air, their shadows stand out and faithfully accompany them. The days that pass, never the same but always in the same streets, the complicity, their codes and purity, the horses that symbolize the neighborhood, the disruptive, light-filled emotions that remind us that life, in its essence, is nothing but this.
