Just concluded 2025 AIRM - SICM - Italian hand therapy and surgery annual conference in Milan. Topic: "What can we learn from complications and failures in hand therapy and surgery."

Just concluded the FESSH 2025 conference in Helsinki, Finland. I am grateful for the opportunity to present a poster on improving flexor tendon excursion using exercise splints .austria

New techniques:
1) treating PIP fractures conservatively
2) How to use AI in the clinic
3) splinting for CMC joint pain
4) evaluating fine motor skills using the new revised Moberg test available
5) 3D printing using new filaments
6) How to treat and evaluate neuropathic pain
7) treating CRPS using virtual reality
8) epitendinous suture can decrease blood supply and place the tendon at risk for rupture in flexor tendon repair, therefore is no longer advised.

Camptodactyly of the small finger presents with the inability to actively extend or straighten the PIP joint.

Most cases can be treated conservatively by hand therapists by using stretching techniques, functional splints during the day and night splints to position the digit in extension.

Fisiomano al 18 Congresso Nazionale AIRM

Took 4 months to gain PIP joint extension with 18-24 hour a day , PIP jt extension exercises (intrinsic strength). Full flexion took an additional 2 months.

Participated as a speaker on the post-op rehabilitation of flexor and extensor tendons.

Honored to be invited by AIRM - Italian Hand Therapy Association to teach a workshop on rehabilitating flexor tendons using a partial active motion protocol.
