During the Design Momentum Demo Day — the final event of Designtech’s acceleration program for startups and SMEs working across design, manufacturing, fashion and emerging technologies — we asked the founders and teams behind BiomimX, D’Alesio&Santoro, Framis Italia, Isola Design, Metis, Northern Light Composites, Orsini and Studio Auriga to reflect on the moments, challenges and milestones that defined their journey.

DESIGNTECH LAUNCHES THE AI ADOPTION HUB

This week we launched the new Designtech AI Adoption Hub, an initiative created to support companies and organisations in the strategic adoption of AI and to foster the evolution of Made in Italy during a period of profound transformation.

Technology does not decide the future. The people who govern it do. AI creates value only when it is strategically guided, embedded into real business processes, and transformed into new entrepreneurial capabilities. 🚀

The launch of the AI Adoption Hub took place during Demo Day, the closing ceremony of the second edition of our accelerator, Design Momentum, during which the eight participants - BiomimX, D’Alesio&Santoro, Framis Italia, Isola Design, Metis, Northern Light Composites, Orsini, and Studio Auriga - presented the Proofs of Concept developed throughout the program, demonstrating how ideas, research, and experimentation can be transformed into concrete market-ready solutions.

A special thank you to all the startups and SMEs involved, as well as to the partners, mentors, investors, corporates, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of this second edition.

Special thanks also to Regione Lombardia, which, through the PR ERDF 2021–2027 funds, co-financed Design Momentum.

Creativity grows through shared experiences
Today we share another perspective from a student of Unitedworld Institute of Design who participated in the Creative Residence coordinated by POLI.design.
The initiative connected students, professionals, and resident members including D-house laboratorio urbano, Puntozero, and Isola Design in a multidisciplinary environment of experimentation and exchange.

What happens when advanced manufacturing, circular economy and design come together in the same space? ♻️

On March 30th, we hosted a workshop at CoFactory dedicated to RIGENER-AM, the project funded by Regione Lombardia through PR FESR 2021–2027 resources, co-funded by the European Union and created to transform metal waste from the automotive industry and textile by-products into advanced materials for additive manufacturing.

A day of exchange, ideas and cross-contamination between professionals, designers, companies and stakeholders to explore new applications across fashion, furniture and interior design, imagining together more circular, responsible and innovative production chains.

Special thanks to the workshop facilitators from D-house laboratorio urbano and from Materially. And thanks to all participants from ACBC, Albini Group, Kilometro Rosso and Caracol for contributing to such an inspiring exchange of visions and expertise.

We’ll continue sharing more about RIGENER-AM soon, diving deeper into the project’s goals and Designtech’s role in developing new applications across design, materials and advanced manufacturing.
