Fun fact: Did you know there are more sheep in Iceland then there are humans? Throughout the year there are around 500.000-800.000 sheep in Iceland. The Icelandic sheep is one of the purest breed in the world and although the sheep if famous for it's wool around the world, in Iceland it is bred almost exclusively for it's meat. 🐏 🐑 Please remember to drive safely and rembember to stop by at Skaftafell Terminal. ❤️⠀

With Vatnajökull glacier in our backyard Atlantsflug can offer some amazing sightseeing and photography flights either by airplane or helicopter. Go check them out to experience something epic! 🛩️🚁⠀

Skaftafell Terminal was built to serve as a tour center, a joint meeting point for companies offering tours in the Skaftafell area. ⠀
On May 1st, moved their meeting point to Skaftafell Terminal and we encourage anyone that might be slightly interested in doing the same to contact us, either by messaging us here on instagram, contacting Atlantsflug or just stop by for a cup of coffee and a chat. ☕️🙋⠀

This is where it all began!

For 25 years, the founder and CEO of Atlantsflug , has been offering sightseeing flights from Skaftafell Airport. In this tiny shed, the pilots would eat, sleep and handle customers. And bear in mind that this was before cellphones and the internet. 😲 How did they manage?!

20 years ago the cabin you see on picture #2 was moved to Skaftafell. This was a huge improvement, now we actually had separate bedrooms, a kitchen, and a working toilet. And through the years we have made some amazing friendships in this house 💕 squeezed endless people around the dinner table and played numerous board games. 🎲🃏

But like always times change and we always felt the need for something more. More space for our customers. More time to show people our beautiful surroundings and of course, more toilets! 💩🤭

So here we are today, Skaftafell Terminal, in all its glory. 🤩🥳 @ Skaftafell Terminal

At Skaftafell Terminal you will always meet a friendly face, willing and able to help you out.

On May 1st Skaftafell Terminal will become Tröll Expeditions official meeting place in Skaftafell and we can't wait. 🏔️🗻 By now Skaftafell Terminal is already the meeting point for Atlantsflug flightseeing tours. 🚁🛩️

Landhelgisgæsla Íslands/Icelandic Coast Guard came for a visit today 😀

Today this nice crew from Landhelgisgæsla Íslands/Icelandic Coast Guard came for a trial landing and coffee at Skaftafell Terminal. Next time we will fit it in to the hangar as this is such a perfect location for ambulance helicopter like this one.

When the walls were up, we needed to spackle every crack, sand it down and prime all the walls before we could begin to paint. ⠀
