🧥 It’s not warm. Average temps sit around 10–14°C (low 50s°F) and wind makes it feel colder. Pack base layers, a mid layer, and a waterproof. You’ll use all three.

🌅 The sun doesn’t set. Like, actually doesn’t set. June and July you’re looking at nearly 24 hours of daylight. Magical for exploring, brutal for sleep. An eye mask isn’t optional, pack one.

🌧️ Cloudy and rainy days are normal. Iceland sits in the middle of the North Atlantic. Summer doesn’t mean sunshine. It just means slightly less wind. Plan for it and it won’t ruin your trip.

📅 It’s peak season. Hotels, flights, rental cars and activities are at their highest prices and popular tours sell out weeks in advance. Book early!

🚗 Crowds are real at the main spots. The difference between a stressful experience and a great one often comes down to having a rental car. It gives you the flexibility to show up early, leave late, and skip the tour bus timing entirely.

Puffins nest in cliffsides and grassy slopes, not beaches. If you don’t see any, don’t forget to look up. They spend their entire winters at sea, making them better swimmers than they are flyers. You’ll want to look for the small black birds with fast wing flapping! Puffins are most active in the evening when they are returning from fishing at sea!
