⛪Saint Thaddeus Church,⛪ is one of the most important and oldest centers of Christianity in Iran and in the world. Brief Introduction 📌Location: West Azerbaijan Province, Chaldoran County, near the border of Iran and Turkey Religious affiliation: Armenian Apostolic Church #worldheritagesite : Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008 as part of the Armenian Monastic Ensembles of Iran Historical Background According to church traditions, this church was built over the tomb of Saint Thaddeus, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. It is believed that Thaddeus came to Armenia and northwestern Iran in the first century AD to preach Christianity and was martyred in this region.
