Observance of World Environment Day 2026
The Textiles Committee at Headquarters and its Regional Offices observed World Environment Day 2026 by creating awareness on safe environment and sustainable practices. Officers and staff shared views and suggestions on environmental conservation based on their personal experiences and understanding.
To promote awareness for environment protection, a tree plantation drive was also organised under the initiative of _“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”_ on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026

The Textile Export Facilitation Centre (TEFC), Surat, successfully organized a webinar on “Handling Global Crisis and Payment Defaults through ECGC Schemes” on 03 June 2026.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Shri Ravindra N. Kore, TEFC In-charge, Surat.
Shri J. D. Barman, Director (EP&QA), Textiles Committee, graced the programme as the Chief Guest. He highlighted the importance of export risk management and the role of TEFC in supporting exporters.
The technical session was delivered by Shri Saurabh Jain, Branch Manager, ECGC, Surat, who explained various ECGC schemes, risk coverage, eligibility criteria, claim procedures, and strategies for managing payment defaults and global trade uncertainties.
The webinar witnessed the participation of 47 representatives from trade and industry. The interactive session provided valuable insights into export credit risk protection mechanisms and received an encouraging response from the participants.

Ms. Manisha Chatterjee, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, visited the HQ of the Textiles Committee along with Ms. Vrunda Manohar Desai, Textile Commissioner & Vice Chairperson, Textiles Committee on 29th May 2026.
During the visit, a comprehensive review of the activities and initiatives undertaken by the Textiles Committee was conducted. Discussions focused on ongoing programmes, key achievements, and future initiatives aimed at strengthening services to the textile sector.
Shri Kartikay Dhanda, Secretary, Textiles Committee, along with senior officers of the organisation, were present during the review meeting.
