Did you know the original FIFA World Cup trophy has a history wilder than a Hollywood thriller? From surviving world wars to a legendary dog detective, the Jules Rimet trophy has seen it all:

🪖 Hidden during WWII to keep it safe from conflict.

📦 Saved in a shoebox under a bed by a FIFA vice-president.

🐶 Found by Pickles the dog in a bush after being stolen in 1966.

🔓 Stolen again in 1983 in Brazil, disappearing forever into history.

It survived wars and thefts, only to become one of football’s greatest unsolved mysteries. 🔍

We are thrilled to share a moment of immense pride! Our alumnus, Mr. Shubham Mittal, B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Class of 2014, has been honoured with the prestigious "Best Diplomat" Award at the recently concluded Best Diplomats International Conference.

Currently based in Dubai, UAE, Shubham stood out in a highly competitive global cohort of over 100 delegates representing 40+ countries. His exceptional negotiation skills and diplomatic engagement earned him the top accolade.

The conference addressed a critical global mandate: "Humanitarian Diplomacy in War-Torn Regions: Ensuring Access to Aid and Protection," aligning directly with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2, 3, and 16).

Shubham’s transition from an engineering background to a recognised voice in international leadership embodies the versatile, changemaker mindset we strive to foster at VIT.

Back in 1966, the football world was thrown into absolute chaos when the Jules Rimet World Cup Trophy was stolen in London. Security was stumped, and the nation was panicking!

Enter PICKLES, a sharp-nosed collie who turned an ordinary walk into an extraordinary rescue by sniffing out the missing trophy wrapped in newspaper under a garden hedge! Just like that, a furry friend became football's ultimate savior.

Did you know that player jerseys didn't always feature names?

From the inaugural tournament in 1930 all the way through 1990, World Cup players were recognized by their numbers alone. It wasn't until the 1994 FIFA World Cup that player names were permanently introduced to the back of the kits, transforming how we connect with football icons and defining a new era of identity on the pitch.

Today, VIT Vellore vibrantly observed the 12th International Day of Yoga, bringing together faculty, staff members, and students for a collective yoga session. Guided by expert yoga practitioners, the participants immersed themselves in various asanas aligning with this year's crucial theme: "Yoga for Healthy Aging" emphasising physical health, mental well-being, and the celebration of longevity.

We were honored to have Shri. Mayank Raj, Regional PF Commissioner - II, Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Vellore, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India, grace the occasion as our Chief Guest.
