A hard-core technology centre, CBST was established at a cost of Rs. 27 millions with the help of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, which has recognized "Protein Separation" as a high priority research area. Projected by the DST as a 'National Facility' for R&D and Training, the centre caters to postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.

CBST was established in 2005 at a cost of INR 27 million with the support of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, which has recognised "Protein Separation Science" as a high priority research area. Projected by the DST as a 'National Facility' for R&D and Training, the centre caters to postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
Over the years, the centre has brought out a large number of researchers who have gone on to build strong careers in academia, industry, and entrepreneurial sectors.
