When Policy Reaches the Kiln: A Small Order with Big Implications for India’s Most Marginalized Mothers 07/04/2026

A small सरकारी आदेश… but a big step for dignity, health, and justice.

In the brick kilns of Varanasi, Musahar women have long worked without recognition, without protection, and without even the basic right to care for their children. A recent directive from PHC Pindra changes that narrative—by recognizing breastfeeding rights, maternal health, and child survival as essential, even in informal workplaces.

This is more than administration. It is about visibility, rights, and the possibility of systemic change.

From global commitments on child health to action on the ground, this moment shows what is possible when policy listens to lived realities.

Together in Struggle, Together in Hope: A Life of Partnership, Justice, and the Moral Imperative of Social Responsibility

Honoured at the TOI National CSR Summit 2026 in the distinguished presence of the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, this moment was not just recognition of work — but a reflection of decades of shared struggle, partnership, and commitment to justice.

From our journey through Jan Mitra Nyas and PVCHR, to grassroots work for marginalized communities, women’s empowerment, and human dignity — this recognition reaffirms our belief that social transformation must be rooted in compassion, accountability, and collective responsibility.

Receiving the honour together on our marriage anniversary made it deeply personal — a celebration of partnership in life and in the pursuit of justice.

Grateful to all who walk this path with us. The journey continues.

Lakhania Dari, Human Dignity, and the Long Road to a Viksit Bharat: Why Justice, Democracy, and Nature Must Walk Together 24/12/2025

Viksit Bharat begins with Human Dignity 🌱

At Lakhania Dari, Mirzapur, the PVCHR team came together for renewal after resistance—reminding ourselves that development is meaningful only when it protects people, nature, and democracy.

Side by side, Shruti Nagvanshi and Lenin Raghuvanshi stand as co-founders and lifelong companions in the struggle for justice—showing that movements endure not through power, but through trust, solidarity, and moral courage.

In an age of climate crisis and shrinking civic spaces, Lakhania Dari became a living lesson:
✨ There can be no Viksit Bharat without human rights.
There can be no development without dignity.
There can be no democracy without justice.

From grassroots action since 1996, PVCHR continues to work for a Viksit Bharat that is:
✔️ democratically vibrant
✔️ socially inclusive
✔️ ecologically sustainable
✔️ grounded in the rule of law

To***co, Slow Violence, and a Policy Turning Point: How Grassroots Evidence from Varanasi Helped Shape India’s New To***co Tax Framework 12/12/2025

🚨 To***co is not just a habit — it is slow violence.
📍 New data from Hindustan Varanasi shows 51.2% of male cancer patients in Varanasi are suffering due to to***co.
This is a public-health emergency — and a justice issue.

Thanks to persistent grassroots advocacy by Jan Mitra Nyas and PVCHR, India has taken a major step toward stronger to***co control.
The GST Council’s 56th meeting adopted key reforms that echo PVCHR’s recommendations:
✅ 40% de-merit GST slab for to***co
✅ Retail Sale Price (RSP)-based valuation
✅ Room for a ring-fenced Health Cess

This victory shows what community-rooted, evidence-driven advocacy can achieve.
But the work ahead is crucial: implementation, monitoring, and protecting reforms from dilution.

As Dr. Lenin Raghuvanshi says:
“Every public opinion is not policy. For that, we need champions.”

Collaborative Efforts to Curb Rising NCDs: PVCHR, Jan Mitra Nyas, and Now IMA Join Hands for a Healthier Future 21/11/2025

✨ Working Together for a Healthier Future! ✨

Heart disease and other NCDs are rising sharply among young people—an urgent public health concern.

For years, PVCHR and Jan Mitra Nyas have been working at the grassroots to address post-COVID vulnerabilities, stress, nutrition gaps, and health inequalities that contribute to NCDs.

Now, it’s encouraging to see the Indian Medical Association (IMA) joining hands to strengthen awareness, early screening, and preventive care—especially for youth.

💙 When civil society and medical professionals work together, real change becomes possible.
Let’s continue building healthier, stronger, and more informed communities.

NHRC Case: Protecting Youth, Women, and Children from the Hidden Dangers of Packaged Food 16/08/2025

🚨 NHRC Case Alert: Protecting Youth, Women & Children from Packaged Food Risks 🚨

🍫🍟 On 14 Sept 2021, human rights defenders Shruti Nagvanshi & Shirin Shabana Khan filed a landmark complaint with the NHRC. Their fight? To hold the food industry accountable for high salt, sugar & fat in packaged foods—a major driver of obesity, diabetes & heart disease in India.

📌 Case No: 4227/90/0/2021
📌 Victims: Youth, Women & Children across India

Over 3 years, NHRC has repeatedly pressed the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to adopt Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labels (FOPNL) so families can make informed food choices. Yet, delays continue while health risks grow.

⚖️ This is not just about food—it’s about the Right to Life & Right to Health under the Constitution.
