TMC Panchayat Member Arrested in Attempt to Murder and Molestation Case :

A Trinamool Congress Panchayat member, Kashinath Ghosh of Satithan under Dhaniakhali Assembly Constituency, has been arrested by West Bengal Police in connection with allegations of illegal land grabbing, physical assault, attempt to murder, and molestation.
According to police sources, a specific case was registered at Dadpur Police Station on 20.05.2026 vide Case No. 155/26 under sections 331/329(3)/115(2)/117(2)/303(2)/76/109/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the course of investigation, police arrested the accused, Kashinath Ghosh, a resident of Dighagari and a village-level TMC member from Dumurpur under Satithan Panchayat. He was produced before the Chinsurah Court today, and police have sought 5 days’ custody for further investigation.

The Government of West Bengal, School Education Department, has issued an official order making the singing of Vande Mataram mandatory in all schools under the School Education Department across the state during assembly prayers before the commencement of classes.
The order, issued from Bikash Bhavan on 14th May 2026, states that this decision comes into immediate effect and supersedes all previous orders and practices regarding the matter.
According to the notification, the directive has been approved by the Competent Authority and instructions have been forwarded to all concerned departments, district authorities, education boards, and school education officials for necessary implementation across West Bengal.
This move is aimed at strengthening patriotic values and national spirit among students through regular participation in school assemblies.

Major Road Accident in Senet: Officer Narrowly Escapes Death :

A major road accident created panic in Senet village under the jurisdiction of Dadpur Police Station. According to sources, a tractor reportedly lost control and rammed forcefully into the vehicle of a government officer. The impact severely damaged the vehicle.
Fortunately, the officer narrowly escaped with his life, avoiding what could have been a fatal mishap. Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and assisted in the rescue operation. Upon receiving information, police personnel arrived at the scene, brought the situation under control, and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause behind the tractor losing control.
