Studio Lagom
We, at Studio Lagom, believe in architecture that strikes the right balance between less and more. We create spaces for lifestyle and culture.
Spaces that are geared for modern demands, yet acknowledge our cultural roots. We make space for nature: light, air, greenery are important parts of our material palette. We worship simplicity and worry about the perfect detailing. We dedicate quality time to create stimulating spaces.

From above, the courtyard reads like the heart it has always been—an inward world of water, brick, and canopy. Even at this scale, the choreography remains unmistakable: the lily pond anchoring one axis, and every room turning gently towards green. A home revealed not through spectacle, but through its centre—the place where everything gathers.

A sculptural spiral in gunmetal grey anchors the double height at the office at House of Memories—its sinuous rise softened by the dappled light filtering through a wall of salvaged timber windows. This installation, composed of frames rescued from the old home, becomes both filter and facade: layering shadow, texture, and time. In the play of reflection against steel and glass, the space finds its rhythm—a dialogue between old and new, weight and air, stillness and movement.

The entrance to the office at House of Memories is a study in restraint and reveal. Set between brick and concrete planes, the shaded passage draws the eye to a sculptural black metal canopy that subtly marks arrival. Alongside, the façade’s quiet rhythm is punctuated by an installation of salvaged timber windows from the old house—a gesture that folds memory into modern form. Beneath, the flooring undulates gently, softening the geometry into something elemental, almost weathered by time.

A retreat within a retreat, the master bedroom deck at House of Memories feels suspended between architecture and landscape. Slender Kerala wood columns rise beneath a glass-topped pergola, their carved capitals lending gravity to the lightness above. A swing anchors the space, offering slow rhythms to match the rustle of bamboo and vines. Around it, a scatter of planters and a marble-topped table fold everyday living into the lushness of a private garden—an outdoor room that is at once serene, shaded, and deeply personal.

A quiet corner in the master bedroom of House of Memories, where a woven chaise longue reclines against brick and timber. The detail lies underfoot: hardwood planks salvaged from the old house, their original joinery marks left intact. Instead of cutting them short, we chose to keep the grain whole, capping each gap with brass plates. The result is a floor that fuses past and present—imperfect, enduring, and made luminous in its repair.

In the master bathroom of House of Memories, blue-stained terrazzo envelopes the space in a hushed aquatic calm. The architecture draws on the sensation of suspension under water—walls and built-in bench reading as a continuous surface, uninterrupted in tone or texture. A slit-like L-shaped opening admits a blade of daylight and the silhouette of trees outside, collapsing the boundary between enclosure and horizon.

In the son’s room at House of Memories, every piece of furniture tells a story salvaged from the family’s old home. A sturdy wooden wardrobe, a desk—all carry the patina of use, repurposed to belong in a new setting of brick, concrete, and filtered light. The architecture holds the same measured rhythm as the guest spaces, yet here the mood shifts—coloured by indigo quilts, playful cushions, and a youthful energy grounded in memory.

In the guest bathroom of House of Memories, darkness becomes design. Black terrazzo sheaths every surface, its depth dissolving the room’s edges into a cave-like stillness. Light spills in sparingly, catching on brass taps and the leaves of a planter court, turning shadow and foliage into the only ornament. The counter, carved seamlessly from terrazzo, curves into an integrated basin—a quiet gesture of form and function. Here, luxury is pared back to atmosphere: a retreat where restraint holds more power than flourish.
