Let's have a look at the side profile of a patient who came for correction of both functional & aesthetic aspect. She underwent jaw surgery or Orthognathic surgery and here you can clearly see change in the facial profile.

Here, the position of lower jaw which was forwardly placed in relation to upper jaw was corrected & the results were wonderfull for this young patient, both aesthetically & functionally.

Lip is ideally closed within 3 months since birth, followed by palate closure between 12 - 18 months.

As you can see here, this is a young patient suffering from Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis, which is one of the most challenging TMJ disorders that can negatively affect oral-related daily functions like mastication, speech and hygiene.

Trauma to the TMJ has been cited as the most common underlying reason responsible for ankylosis; however, local infections and systemic disorders (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis) also can also cause TMJ Ankylosis.
