J&K Skill Development Mission has been constituted by the Government of J&K to coordinate and implement short term job oriented courses.

Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission( JKSDM) has been constituted by the State in 2016 as an Independent and autonomous mission to deliver quality skill training and professional knowledge to the youth to enhance their employability and bridge the skill deficit to meet the demand for skilled manpower. The area of operation of JKSDM will be the entire UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

Government ITI Baramulla is empowering youth through a wide range of job-oriented courses under PMKVY. Hundreds of students across the district have already benefited, gaining skills that open doors to employment and self-reliance. All courses are completely free of cost, ensuring equal opportunity for all.
An initiative of MSDE, implemented by NSDC, the program is effectively supervised by the Jammu & Kashmir Skill Development Mission—ensuring quality training and real impact on the ground.

District Administration Baramulla, in collaboration with JKSDM, conducted a Workshop-cum-Training Program for the line departments of district for effective implementation of PMKVY 4.0.

The workshop was held on 14-05-2026 at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla, focusing on strengthening the implementation of the scheme across line departments and institutions of the district. The Officer on Special Duty (OSD), JKSDM, along with his technical team, conducted the session and delivered a detailed presentation on the technical procedures and modalities for participation of Government Departments and Institutions in PMKVY 4.0, enabling district youth and stakeholders to fully benefit from this prestigious Government of India initiative as envisioned by the District Development Commissioner Baramulla. The workshop witnessed participation from District and Sectoral Heads along with representatives of various departments and institutions, including the General Manager DIC Baramulla, District Programme Officer ICDS Baramulla, Principals of Government Degree Colleges in Baramulla, Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Chief Agriculture Officer Baramulla, Chief Horticulture Officer Baramulla, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Baramulla, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla, District Coordinator RSETI Baramulla, District Coordination NRLM, District Programme Manager Himayat (DDU-GKY) Baramulla.
The session concluded with a vibrant interactive question-and-answer segment, enhancing participants’ understanding of the scheme and addressing their queries regarding implementation and participation.

Candidates undergoing training in the job oriented PMKVY 4.0 Solar LED Technician course (NSQF Level-4) at Govt. ITI Handwara, District Kupwara which is one of the designated training centers under PMKVY managed and mentored by the Jammu & Kashmir Skill Development Mission, Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
The training is being delivered by qualified and experienced trainers, ensuring both theoretical understanding and practical exposure. The candidates have expressed satisfaction with the quality of training and hands-on learning being provided.

Under PMKVY, candidate kits including T-shirts, bags, and study materials are being distributed across training centres in J&K to support and motivate our trainees in their skill development journey.
While several centres have already received and distributed the kits, others are in the pipeline and will be covered in the coming days.
These kits are more than just materials, they symbolize encouragement, identity, and a commitment to quality training.

A virtual inspection of training programmes under PMKVY was conducted by the Joint Secretary, Govt. of India, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship
The review focused on the implementation and progress of skill training being managed by the Jammu & Kashmir Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the session, the Joint Secretary interacted directly with Training Centres (TCs) to assess the quality, delivery mechanisms, and adherence to PMKVY guidelines. Emphasis was laid on evaluating infrastructure, training standards, and the overall learning environment provided to the candidates.
The Joint Secretary also engaged with trainers and candidates present in classrooms and laboratories. Trainers shared insights regarding course delivery, curriculum, and challenges faced during implementation, while candidates provided feedback on training quality, facilities, and their overall learning experience.

The inspection reflects the Government’s continued commitment to ensuring quality skill development and effective implementation of flagship programme PMKVY in Jammu & Kashmir. JKSDM reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening training delivery and addressing gaps highlighted during the review

J&K Shines at IndiaSkills 2025–26 Nationals; Fashion Technology student Wins Gold

Jammu & Kashmir has made a remarkable mark at the National-level IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26, securing a Gold Medal along with a Medallion of Excellence, bringing pride to the Union Territory.
In a standout achievement, Ms. Diksha, a student of NIFT Srinagar, clinched the Gold Medal, earning the prestigious opportunity to represent India at the upcoming WorldSkills Competition scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China.
The Medallion of Excellence further highlights the competitive edge and dedication of participants from the region.
Officials and stakeholders have lauded the achievement, calling it a significant milestone for the Union Territory’s skill development ecosystem. The success is expected to inspire many more young aspirants to pursue excellence in vocational skills and represent the region at national and international platforms.
