BJP Anantnag suspends office bearers over unauthorised Tiranga rally

The BJP District Unit Anantnag has initiated disciplinary action against several office bearers for their alleged involvement in an unauthorised Tiranga Rally held at Housing Colony Khanabal on August 5.

In an office order issued by District President Rakesh Koul, the party stated that the rally was neither organised nor authorised by BJP Anantnag and had not obtained the required permission from the district administration. The party also took serious note of alleged objectionable and derogatory remarks made during the event.

Following consultations with senior BJP leaders and the district core committee, the party removed the concerned office bearers from their organisational posts and suspended their primary membership with immediate effect, pending further inquiry.

Reacting to PDP chief Mehbooba M***i holding the Tricolour upside down during a protest, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said it appeared to be an inadvertent mistake.

“It would be difficult to believe that someone who has served as chief minister would intentionally display the national flag upside down. I don’t think it was deliberate; it must have been a mistake,” Abdullah said.
