New Delhi, June 7: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma on Sunday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi and held detailed discussions on a range of issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the prevailing security and law-and-order situation in the Union Territory and exchanged views on the overall political scenario. They also discussed governance-related matters, public welfare initiatives and measures aimed at accelerating development across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking after the meeting, Sunil Sharma reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace, inclusive development and the strengthening of democratic institutions at the grassroots level in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the BJP remains dedicated to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and advancing the Union Territory’s progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jammu Kashmir HC Restores Bail in NDPS Case, Says Bail Cannot be Cancelled Without Misuse of Liberty
The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh at Srinagar has restored bail to an accused booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, holding that cancellation of bail requires “cogent and overwhelming circumstances” such as misuse of liberty, tampering with evidence or interference with trial proceedings.

The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, has triggered a debate over children’s use of social media after making a striking comparison. Speaking about online safety, Frederiksen said, “If I had small kids today, I would rather have them smoking than allowing them to stay on their own on social media.”
