After 7 long years, this Eid finally brings my father back beside us. A moment we waited for through years of separation, prayers, & longing. But this Eid carries another pain too. My grandfather, who was once part of every Eid, is no longer with us.

And even this reunion feels borrowed , my father is with us this Eid, only to return behind prison walls again just two days later.

In Kashmir, even happiness arrives carrying grief within it.

A heartfelt farewell to my grandfather. May he rest in eternal peace. Aameen
