Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Park

✔️The Nanda Devi National Park and Valley of Flowers National Parks is an UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uttarakhand, India.
✔️It possesses two core areas about 20km apart, made up by the Nanda Devi National Park and the Valley of Flowers National Park, plus an encompassing Combined Buffer Zone.
✔️In 1988 the site was inscribed as Nanda Devi National Park. In 2005 it was expanded to encompass the Valley of Flowers National Park and a larger buffer zone and it was renamed to Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks.

✔️Established in 1982, as a national park.
The height of Nanda Devi is 7,816 m (25,643 ft).
Sir Edmund Hillary has described that the “Nanda Devi Sanctuary is God-gifted wilderness-India’s-training ground for adventure” in his autobiography.
✔️Tagged as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988, established as Sanjay Gandhi National Park in 1982 and later converted as Nanda Devi National Park.
✔️There are around 312 floral species out of which there are 17 rare species that have been found here. Fir, birch, rhododendron, and juniper are the main flora.
Common larger mammals are Himalayan musk deer, mainland serow and Himalayan tahr. Carnivores are represented by snow leopard, Himalayan black bear and perhaps also brown bear.
✔️Vegetation is scarce in the inner sanctuary due to the dryness of the conditions. Ramani, alpine, prone mosses and lichens are other notable floral species found in Nanda Devi National Park.
✔️✔️Valley of Flowers National Park
✔️Known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers.
At 3352 to 3658 meters above sea level, the gentle landscape of the Valley of Flowers National Park complements the rugged mountain wilderness of Nanda Devi National Park to the east.
✔️The park lies completely in the temperate alpine zone. Home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, brown bear, red fox, blue sheep and high altitude birds.

✔It is Located in the foothills of Himalayas in the bhabar area of the western Assam.It spans the Manas river and is joined on the north by the Royal Manas National Park of Bhutan.
✔Manas National Park have six national and international designations

4.Biosphere Reserve (national)
5.Elephant Reserve
6.Important Bird Area
✔Manas was initially a game reserve since 1928
Manas became a Tiger Reserve in 1974.
Manas became a World Heritage Site in 1985,
It became Biosphere Reserve in 1989.
Manas was declared as a National Park in 1990 with an area of 500 sq. kms.
✔Manas is also the core area of the Chirang Ripu Elephant Reserve.To the North of the Manas National Park is the international border of Bhutan created by the imposing Bhutan hills.
✔Manas National Park spreads on either side of the majestic Manas river. The monsoon and river system in the Manas National Park forms four principal geological habitats-Bhabar savannah, Terai tract, marshlands, riverine tracts, Flora.
✔The Manas National Park shelters more than 22 endangered species which are designated as Schedule 1 species in the Wildlife Protection Act and enjoy the highest level of protection in the country.
✔The Manas National Park provides critical and viable habitats for rare and endangered species,
Tiger, Greater one-horned rhino, swamp deer,
Pygmy hog, Bengal florican, wild buffalo.

AGRA FORT

✔Agra Fort was built primarily as a military structure by Akbar but was later transformed into a palace by his son, Shah Jahan
✔Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb for eight years in the octagonal tower (known as ‘Mussaman Burj’) of Agra Fort
✔Today you can see the Taj Mahal from Mussaman Burj as easily as Shah Jahan did centuries ago
✔You can also see the Taj Mahal through the slits in the wall of Jodha Bai’s palace in Agra Fort
✔Agra Fort was modelled after the Rajput fort built by Raja Man Singh Tomar of Gwalior in 1500
✔In turn, the Agra Fort served as a model for Shah Jahan’s Red Fort in Delhi
✔The Khas Mahal of the Agra Fort was the model for the Diwan-i-Khas at the Red Fort in Delhi
✔The Yamuna River originally flowed along the straight eastern edge of the fort, and the emperors had their own bathing ghats here
✔The Diwan-i-Khas of Agra Fort once housed Shah Jahan’s legendary Peacock Throne, which was inset with precious stones including the famous Koh-i-noor diamond
✔A large part of the Agra Fort was converted into army barracks by the British which are not accessible to the public
✔ Added to UNESCO World heritage sites on 1983
