From April 20 to 29, 2026, conducted a series of capacity-building sessions across eight Government schools in Shimla-4 Education Block, focusing on strengthening at the school level.
A total of 1,372 participants, including 1,263 students and 109 teachers, engaged in hands-on learning sessions on , , and . These sessions emphasized practical skills, enabling participants to respond with confidence during critical situations.
With this phase, the initiative has now reached ๐ฒ๐ฎ schools and ๐ฑ,๐ฑ๐ต๐ญ participants, steadily fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within educational institutions.
Implemented in collaboration with M3M Foundation and DOCC, the initiative continues its journey across 125 Government schools in District Shimla, focusing on sustained engagement and long-term resilience building.

From 7th to 10th April 2026, conducted capacity-building sessions across eight government schools in Rampur and Sarahan Education Blocks of District Shimla, focusing on strengthening at the school level.
A total of 347 participants, including 289 students and 58 teachers, participated in hands-on learning sessions on , , and , building practical skills and confidence to act in critical situations.
With these trainings, the initiative has reached ๐ฑ๐ฐ schools and ๐ฐ,๐ฎ๐ญ๐ต participants, strengthening the culture of safety and preparedness in educational institutions.
Implemented in collaboration with M3M Foundation and DOCC, the project continues to work across 125 Government schools in the District Shimla, strengthening resilience through sustained engagement.
Prepared schools today contribute to safer, more resilient communities tomorrow.

On 17th March 2026, the Training Handbook was presented to the Worthy Deputy Commissioner -cum- Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Shimla.
Earlier, the handbook had been formally unveiled by the Director of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, Shri Ashish Kumar Kohli, marking a significant step towards strengthening school safety efforts in the state.
Developed under the STEP4Schools initiative, the handbook is designed to reinforce key learnings on , , and among students. It captures the core components of the training sessions, enabling students to revisit and practice essential life-saving skills beyond the classroom.
The STEP4Schools project, funded by M3M Foundation and coordinated by DOCC, is being implemented across 125 schools in four education blocks of District Shimla, Shimla-4, Rampur, Sarahan, and Chauhara to build a culture of preparedness within school communities.

We sincerely thank Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration for providing us the opportunity to contribute as facilitators in the Three-Day Training Programme on Child Centric Disaster Risk Reduction organized in collaboration with the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of Punjab from 9-11 March 2026 at Chandigarh.
A special thanks to Col. Dalbir Singh and Er. Nitika Singla for their leadership, coordination, and for creating such a meaningful learning platform that brought together professionals from diverse departments working on disaster management, education, health, and child protection.
facilitated key technical sessions focusing on integrating child-centric approaches into disaster risk management systems. Through interactive discussions, case examples, and practical perspectives from field implementation, the training aimed to strengthen the capacity of government officials from multiple departments to mainstream into their policies and programmes.
It was encouraging to engage with committed officers and practitioners and see the growing focus on integrating child safety and resilience within disaster risk management systems.

Empowering young minds to respond, not panic, in times of crisis!
As part of the initiative, continued its visits across Government schools in the Shimla-4 Education Block during FebruaryโMarch 2026. Students and teachers from schools such as GMS Mayfield, GHS Kaithu, GMS Ruldu Bhatta, GMS Badash, GHS Bharari, GMS Kanlog, GMS Ramnagar, and GMS Poabo participated in interactive sessions on , , and .
Through demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on practice, participants learned how to stay calm and respond effectively during emergencies.
Across these visits, 269 students and 36 teachers strengthened their preparedness and built confidence in handling real-life situations.

With the beginning of the new academic session, we initiated activities under the Comprehensive School Safety Framework at Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla
On 21 February, teachers underwent hands-on Basic Life Support training.
On 24 February, students participated in a practical session on First Aid, CPR, and emergency response.

On 31 December 2025, facilitated a practical Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training session for employees of SUEZ in India in Shimla.
Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, participants learned to recognise and perform effective chest compressions and rescue breaths, building confidence to respond when every second counts.

Under the Social Impact Grant, Doers is implementing , a one-year initiative focused on strengthening , , , and capacities among students, teachers, and non-teaching staff in 125 government schools of District Shimla.
Between August 2025 and January 2026, the project reached 31 government schools across four education blocks, building the groundwork for safer and more resilient school communities in a disaster-prone context.
In January 2026, Team Doers member Ms. Anuradha participated in the mid-year review meeting (29โ31 January) organised by M3M Foundation and DOCC at SEWA (Self-Employed Women's Association), . Beyond presenting progress from the first six months and outlining the roadmap for the next phase, the convening served as a meaningful learning platform, offering exposure to diverse grassroots initiatives, implementation strategies, and impact models from fellow partner organisations across sectors.
The final day included exposure visits to SEWA, SARTHI, and Earth Rakshak Foundation, each demonstrating measurable on-ground impact. The visits provided valuable insights into community-driven, context-responsive approaches and reinforced the importance of peer learning in strengthening social impact work.
Aligned with the National School Safety Policy, continues to move forward with the goal of fostering a whole-school culture of preparedness across 125 government schools in District Shimla by July 2026.
