Presenting our chief guest for the Closing ceremony of SHISHIR and NITMMUN 3.0, Mr.Mark Laitflang Stone.

Mark Laitflang Stone is an award-winning entrepreneur, speaker and mentor to youth, and is the founder and chief executive of Meghalaya based “AVENUES”, North East India’s leading personal development social enterprise.

His team’s efforts over the last 20 years have impacted over 100,000 individuals in Meghalaya, the North East and beyond, through programmes that significantly improve confidence, self-worth, clarity and communication. The soft skills imparted by Avenues are relevant throughout life and prepare youth for the challenges of the world of work.

His Career Highlights include:

-In recognition of his pioneering work in life coaching and employability interventions for North Eastern youth, a regional panel of peers and leaders felicitated him with the first-ever Northeast Young Heroes Award for Education in 2020.

-Felicitated with the inaugural edition of the Asian Youth Empowerment Leader Award 2O2O-21 at the 15th Asia-Middle East-Africa Business & Social Forum Summit held in Dubai in 2021.

-Founding Curatorship for the Global Shapers community with the World Economic Forum.

-Co-Chairmanship for the "Adult Literacy" vertical of the National Council for the Confederation of Indian Industry’s India@75 Foundation.

-Keynote Speaker at over 150+ events in India, South East Asia and Europe.

-Led India’s first Tribal Affairs Ministry funded Soft Skills and Talent Identification intervention for Tribal Youth impacting over 20,000 lives between 2019 and 2022.

-Delegation Member at the Australia-India Youth Dialogue’s 10th Bilateral cohort hosted in Sydney and Melbourne.

-Featured in the Bestseller “Highway to Swades” authored by entrepreneur Bhairavi Jani, documenting India’s superpowers.

-Launched the first India-Australia partnership for Entrepreneurial education pathways in Meghalaya and NE India in Melbourne in February, 2024.

📜The All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM) is a forum where representatives from various political parties across India convene to discuss and deliberate on pressing national issues. Typically organized before parliamentary sessions or the introduction of significant legislation, the AIPPM aims to foster consensus among diverse political entities, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of multifaceted topics before formal legislative proceedings commence.

Functioning as a supplementary body to the Parliament without legislative authority, the AIPPM provides an unrestricted platform for political debate, free from the procedural constraints of formal parliamentary sessions. This setting allows for the expression of diverse viewpoints, aiding in the formulation of well-rounded policies that reflect the interests of various segments of society.

In educational contexts, particularly within Model United Nations (MUN) conferences in India, the AIPPM is simulated to provide participants with insights into the complexities of Indian political dynamics. Delegates assume the roles of prominent political figures, engaging in debates on contemporary issues such as child labor laws, freedom of speech, and the legalization of same-sex marriages. These simulations aim to enhance understanding of policy-making processes, encourage critical thinking, and develop negotiation skills among participants.

📯The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is a crucial committee in Model United Nations (MUN), responsible for maintaining international peace and security. Comprising 15 member states, including 5 permanent members (P5) with veto power, the UNSC debates urgent global issues such as conflicts, terrorism, and humanitarian crises. Delegates must negotiate strategically, as resolutions passed are considered binding. The UNSC often involves crisis simulations, requiring delegates to respond swiftly to evolving scenarios. Success in the UNSC demands strong diplomacy, policy knowledge, and effective leadership. Its fast-paced environment and impactful decisions make it one of the most challenging yet rewarding MUN committees.

The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is an intergovernmental body within the UN responsible for promoting and protecting human rights worldwide. It was established in 2006 and is based in Geneva, Switzerland.

⭕Key Functions of UNHRC:

Investigates human rights violations

Issues reports and recommendations

Conducts Universal Periodic Reviews (UPR) of all UN member states

Appoints independent experts (Special Rapporteurs) on various human rights issues

The UNHRC has 47 member states, elected for three-year terms, with regional representation. It has been both praised for addressing global human rights issues and criticized for including countries with poor human rights records.
