Our Story
Rourkela, known as the industrial hub & steel city of Odisha, is located in the north western part of the state. Lying in the heart of tribal belt, the city is renowned for producing ace talents internationally, especially in hockey. The smart city project aims at making the city more liveable, inclusive, sustainable, safe and self-reliant city. and making it a hub of socio-economic development.
Rourkela has been selected as a smart city in the third phase of smart cities challenge on 20 September 2016. The city ranked 12th position on the 27-city list.
Recognized as the fastest moving city in the east zone with a population of 2-10 lakhs in Swachh Survekshan 2017: Sanitation Rankings of Cities/Towns Awards category.
Rewarded with Skoch Order-of-Merit Award on 25 Feb '19 for "Read to Lead" Initiative.
