Gurdwara Nanakmata Sahib in Uttarakhand, India, marks the site where Guru Nanak visited in 1514 AD during his travels. The location, previously known as Gorakhmata, was a center for Nath yogis following Gorakhnath's tradition of yoga and ascetic practices aimed at spiritual discipline and enlightenment. Accounts from Sikh sources describe Guru Nanak engaging in discussions with the yogis, sharing teachings on devotion, equality, and direct connection to one God. The site was later renamed Nanakmata and developed into a Sikh gurdwara, with a small structure built locally and major renovation in 1975. It holds significance for Sikhs as a place of Guru Nanak's spiritual discourse, while also reflecting historical interaction between emerging Sikh thought and established yogic paths.

The Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to legend, Lord Shiva, moved by the penance of King Mandhata, granted him darshan at this very location. The present temple structure is believed to have been raised by the Katyuri kings more than a thousand years ago. In the Dwapara Age, the grandson of Lord Krishna was married to the daughter of the demon king Banasura within the temple grounds.
The Omkareshwar Temple serves a crucial role during the winter months. From November through March, it becomes the revered winter shrine for the utsav idols of Lord Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar. These two major Himalayan temples close during this period, but worship continues seamlessly here. Importantly, Ukhimath remains accessible throughout the entire year.
