MLA Mehraj Malik PSA Case: Next Hearing on 4 December for Continuing Arguments

In the Mahraj Malik (MLA Doda) matter, listed today before Hon’ble Justice Mohd. Yusuf Wani, the counsel appearing for the petitioner vehemently challenged the material relied upon for detaining Mahraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Senior Advocate Mr. Rahul Pant, while advancing arguments, questioned the reliance on several past cases that were used as grounds to impose the PSA, including matters from 2012 and 2014. He pointed out that in two of those cases the petitioner had been granted amnesty, in one case the prosecution failed to establish any offence and therefore a closure report was filed, and another case had been compounded.
The matter was adjourned as part-heard after one of the appearing counsel fell unconscious due to the courtroom being overcrowded. The case is now listed for further hearing on 4th December 2024.
Besides Senior Advocate Mr. Rahul Pant, Advocates Sheikh Shakeel, Muzaffar Khan, Apu Singh Slathia, Tariq Mughal, and Zulqarnain Choudhary also appeared in the matter.
