Delhi Public School Ranchi, in association with the Regional Remote Sensing Centre-East, ISRO, Kolkata, organised a special celebration of the 3rd National Space Day on August 13, ahead of the official observance on August 23. The programme was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Gopal Pathak, Director General, Sarla Birla University, Ranchi, as the Chief Guest. The interactive session featured eminent speakers from ISRO, including, Dr. Arindam Guha, Deputy General Manager, RRSC-East; Dr. Tanumi Kumar, Head, Applications, RRSC-East, Dr. Prabir Kumar Das, Senior Scientist, RRSC-East, Shri Kotti Venkata Sudhakar, Division Head, Software Systems Quality Assurance Division (SSQAD), NRSC; and Mr. Niladri Das, Scientist - SC, RRSC - East. Around 300 students from Delhi Public School, Ranchi, Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, Ranchi and Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Ranchi participated in the programme, which comprised an interactive session, space exhibition and quiz competition.

The programme commenced with the presentation of saplings and mementoes by the Honourable Principal, Dr. Jaya Chauhan, to the Chief Guest, Special Guest and the revered speakers. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries, marking the auspicious beginning of the celebration.

In her welcome address, the Honourable Principal Dr. Jaya Chauhan extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, scientists, speakers, teachers and students. She highlighted the significance of National Space Day as a celebration of India’s remarkable achievements in space science and technology. She emphasised that the success of Chandrayaan-3 symbolises perseverance, innovation, scientific temper and teamwork. She encouraged students to remain curious, ask questions and look beyond the boundaries of textbooks, stressing that India’s future space missions would be shaped by the aspirations and innovations of today’s young learners. She expressed her gratitude to ISRO and the Regional Remote Sensing Centre-East for providing students with an opportunity to interact with eminent scientists and gain meaningful insights into India’s space journey.

The Interactive Session began with Dr. Prabir Kumar Das, Senior Scientist, RRSC-East, who provided the background and context of the programme. He spoke about the significance of National Space Day and the evolution of India’s space programme, explaining how space technology has become an integral part of everyday life. He highlighted the role of remote sensing and satellite-based technologies in agriculture, disaster management, environmental monitoring, urban planning, natural resource management and several other developmental activities. He encouraged students to cultivate scientific curiosity and explore the immense possibilities offered by the space sector.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Gopal Pathak, Director General, Sarla Birla University, Ranchi, appreciated the initiative of DPS Ranchi and RRSC-East in bringing space science closer to young learners. He highlighted the transformative role of science and technology in nation-building and encouraged students to nurture curiosity, innovation and a problem-solving mindset. He said that India’s achievements in space demonstrate what can be accomplished through vision, perseverance, indigenous capabilities and collective effort. He urged the students to dream big and actively contribute to the nation’s journey towards becoming a technologically advanced and knowledge-driven society.

Following the addresses by the revered guests, Dr. Arindam Guha, Deputy General Manager, RRSC-East, shared his insights on “ISRO’s Moon Odyssey.” He took students through India’s remarkable lunar exploration journey and highlighted the milestones achieved through the Chandrayaan missions. He explained how successive missions have contributed to enhancing India’s understanding of the Moon while strengthening the country’s technological capabilities. His presentation gave students an engaging perspective on the challenges of lunar exploration, the scientific objectives of the missions and the perseverance required to accomplish complex space missions.

Sri Kotti Venkata Sudhakar, Division Head, Software Systems Quality Assurance Division (SSQAD), NRSC, shared his insights on Satellite Data Acquisition. He explained how satellite systems capture valuable information from space and how such data is received, processed and utilised for scientific and developmental applications. His session helped students understand the importance of reliable satellite data in studying the Earth and supporting various sectors.

Thereafter, Dr. Tanumi Kumar, Head, Applications, RRSC-East, spoke on “ISRO Outreach and Career Opportunities.” She acquainted students with the diverse opportunities available in the space sector and highlighted the importance of strong foundations in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. She encouraged students to explore emerging career pathways associated with space science, remote sensing, satellite technology, data analysis and other specialised fields.

The Interactive Session was followed by a Space Exhibition and Interaction, where students explored space-related displays and interacted with experts. The exhibition offered a stimulating learning experience and enabled the participants to gain a deeper understanding of space technology and its applications.

The programme further witnessed an enthusiastic Quiz Competition conducted by the Quizmaster, Shri. Niladri Das. In the quiz competition, the students demonstrated their knowledge of space science, ISRO missions and India’s achievements in space exploration. DPS Ranchi emerged victorious, securing the First Prize, while the host institution also bagged the Second Prize, followed by Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Ranchi, which clinched the Third Prize.

The programme culminated with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, scientists, participating schools, teachers and students for making the celebration meaningful and successful.

Bringing another moment of pride to the school, two teams from Delhi Public School Ranchi have successfully qualified for Phase II, the National Level, of the Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA) Map Quiz 2026. The teams secured their place through their commendable performance in the Preliminary (Phase I) – State Level of the INCA National Map Quiz 2026. The achievement reflects the students’ strong knowledge of geography, maps, spatial awareness, cartographic concepts and analytical skills, while also highlighting their dedication and teamwork.

Representing DPS Ranchi, Group 1 comprises Ameya Devarshi, Aasutosh Singh and Shubh, while Group 2 comprises Atulya Pandey, Arghya Bhardwaj and Dhruv Jaiswal. Their qualification for the national level is a significant accomplishment and demonstrates the school’s endeavour to provide students with opportunities to participate in intellectually stimulating competitions and excel beyond the classroom. The students’ success has brought immense pride to the entire DPS Ranchi fraternity.

World Organ Donation Day – The Gift That Lives On

“A life lived for others is a life well lived.”

Some gifts are cherished for a moment, while others become a legacy that lives on forever. Organ donation is one such extraordinary gift—a selfless act through which the end of one life can become a new beginning for another. Observed every year on 13 August, World Organ Donation Day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of organ donation and the hope it can bring to countless lives. On this significant occasion, the students of Class V came together to spread a message of hope, compassion and humanity.

Through an insightful and sensitively presented programme, the students highlighted the importance of our vital organs and explained how organ donation can give individuals awaiting transplants a precious second chance at life. They emphasised that choosing to donate organs is not merely an act of generosity, but one of the noblest ways of giving back to humanity.

The young speakers also highlighted how several celebrated personalities have supported the cause of organ donation. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan have pledged to donate their eyes and have promoted awareness about eye and organ donation, while R. Madhavan and Aishwarya Rajinikanth have expressed their support for organ-donation initiatives and encouraged greater awareness about the cause. Their support serves as an inspiring reminder that every voice can help encourage others to come forward and make a difference.

The students further shared inspiring stories of celebrities whose lives have been touched by organ transplantation. Selena Gomez received a kidney donated by her friend following complications related to lupus, Steve Jobs underwent a liver transplant in 2009, and Sarah Hyland has undergone two kidney transplants. Their journeys highlight the life-changing impact of organ transplantation and remind us of the precious gift that donors can offer to those in need.

The presentation beautifully conveyed that the true measure of a life lies not only in what we receive, but also in what we leave behind for others. The students’ confident delivery, thoughtful expressions and heartfelt message made the presentation both enlightening and deeply moving.

Reflecting on the profound significance of the occasion, Principal Dr. Jaya Chauhan commended the students for their thoughtful and inspiring presentation. She appreciated their sincere efforts to raise awareness about the noble cause of organ donation and encouraged them to continue nurturing the values of empathy, compassion and responsible citizenship.

The presentation left the audience with a profound thought: when we choose to give the gift of life, a part of our legacy continues to live in another.

Class 5 GK Quiz Finals was an exciting and enriching event that tested our young quizzers’ knowledge, awareness and quick thinking.

The quiz featured five engaging rounds:

All rounds included current-affairs-based questions related to the respective themes, encouraging students to stay informed and curious about the world around them.

Principal Dr Jaya Chauhan appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and congratulated the young quizzers for their confidence, curiosity and impressive knowledge. She encouraged them to continue reading, exploring and learning beyond the classroom.

The students of class 4 enthusiastically participated in an Art-Integrated learning Activity on Coconut Sculpting ,integrating creativity with Social Science using coconut shells and other natural materials, they created impressive models that reflected their imagination, artistic skills and understanding of the topic.

The Eco Club of Delhi Public School, Ranchi celebrated World Elephant Day with joy, curiosity, and a whole lot of creativity! 🐘💚 Young Eco Warriors from Nursery to Grade V came together to discover the fascinating world of elephants and understand why these magnificent gentle giants need our protection.

Through an engaging awareness session, the children learnt about elephant habitats, their role in maintaining the balance of forests, and the threats they face, including habitat loss and human–wildlife conflict. The young learners were encouraged to become compassionate guardians of nature and understand that protecting wildlife begins with small, responsible actions.

Our Honourable Principal, Dr. Jaya Chauhan, beautifully reinforced the message of conservation, inspiring children to respect every living being, care for nature, and grow into responsible environmental stewards. Her encouraging words added purpose and meaning to the celebration.

The highlight of the day was the delightful Elephant Mask-Making Activity! 🎨🐘 Tiny hands got busy creating colourful trunks, big ears, and imaginative elephant faces. The children enjoyed every moment, proudly wearing their handmade masks and bringing the celebration alive with laughter and excitement.

The celebration beautifully blended learning, creativity, and compassion, leaving behind a simple yet powerful message:

Aarohi Brijesh, a bright student of Class XI at Delhi Public School Ranchi, has brought laurels to the school through her remarkable achievements in the field of science and innovation. As the National Winner of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2025–26, Aarohi recently participated in the prestigious SRIJAN Internship, organised by Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan at Bhopal. The internship provided her with an enriching opportunity to gain practical exposure, interact with eminent institutions and broaden her understanding of scientific research and innovation. During her stay in Bhopal, she visited the Chief Minister’s Residency and several other prominent institutions. As part of the internship programme, she also visited AIIMS Bhopal, where she gained valuable insights into the functioning of a premier medical and research institution.

Adding another significant achievement to her growing list of accomplishments, Aarohi had earlier completed the i-KITES Internship, conducted under the KRITI initiative at IIT Kharagpur. The internship offered her an opportunity to explore emerging areas of science and technology and experience the academic and research environment of one of the country’s premier institutions.

Aarohi’s excellence was further recognised when she secured the Second Prize in the Chemistry Day Quiz, organised by the Regional Centre, National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Bhopal. Her achievements reflect her keen scientific temperament, curiosity, dedication and passion for learning beyond the classroom. Her participation in prestigious national-level programmes and internships stands as an inspiration for her peers and reflects DPS Ranchi’s commitment to nurturing scientific thinking, innovation and experiential learning among its students.

Delhi Public School (DPS) Ranchi successfully organised the School-Level Competition of the CBSE Young India Culinary Championship (YICC) 2026–27 on 12 August 2026 at the school premises. The championship is a CBSE initiative aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Skill India Mission, with a focus on experiential learning, life skills, innovation, health and nutrition, and food safety and hygiene.

The competition was organised under Category I for students of Classes VI–VIII, with Non-Fire Cooking as the culinary theme. Students showcased their creativity, presentation skills, nutritional awareness and innovative approach through preparations such as salads, sandwiches and canapés. The activity provided students with an engaging platform to develop practical culinary skills while promoting the importance of healthy eating, hygiene and food safety.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who demonstrated originality, teamwork and confidence while preparing and presenting their dishes. The winning students will now represent Delhi Public School Ranchi at the Regional Level of the CBSE Young India Culinary Championship 2026–27, carrying forward the school’s spirit of excellence and innovation.

A Hindi Story Competition was organised for the students of Class 1 to nurture their interest in the Hindi language and develop their confidence in speaking before an audience. The young participants enthusiastically presented their stories with expressive gestures, appropriate expressions, and clear pronunciation.

The children narrated a variety of interesting and meaningful stories, showcasing their creativity, imagination, and communication skills.

Our respected Principal, Dr. Jaya Chauhan, appreciated the young participants for their enthusiastic participation and confidence. She further added that such activities play a crucial role in developing communication skills and imagination among children.
