Rajouri Youth begin Prime Minister’s 100-week ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan’ with a Tribute to the Martyrs

RAJOURI, AUGUST 02: District Rajouri marked the launch of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s 100-Week “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan” with a solemn and inspiring tribute to the martyrs, reaffirming the resolve of the district’s youth to build a strong, disciplined and drug-free India.

Following the Prime Minister’s virtual address inaugurating the nationwide campaign, My Bharat volunteers assembled at the Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial Museum & Library, a unique memorial dedicated to the Operation Sindoor, the Shaurya of the Indian Armed Forces and the extraordinary resilience of the people of Rajouri.

The Memorial Museum & Library, inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir in April 2026, has been established as a living tribute to the supreme sacrifice of Martyr Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, who laid down his life while serving the people during Operation Sindoor. More than a memorial, it preserves the inspiring story of Operation Sindoor, honours the courage and valour of the Indian Army Security Forces & District Administration.

The Museum and Library chronicles the unwavering spirit, courage and resilience displayed by the people of Rajouri in the face of cross-border shelling and adversity. The memorial stands today as a symbol of patriotism, public service and the unbreakable bond between the Armed Forces, Civil Administration and the citizens of this border district.

Standing before this symbol of sacrifice and national pride, the volunteers paid homage to the martyrs and drew inspiration from the values of courage, selfless service and dedication to the nation. They resolved to carry these ideals into their own lives by becoming ambassadors of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and active participants in the Prime Minister’s 100-week Nasha Mukt Yuva to Viksit Bharat Sankalp'.

The volunteers pledged to reach every section of society through awareness campaigns, youth engagement, educational institutions and community participation, working closely with local stakeholders to eliminate the menace of drug abuse and strengthen the moral fabric of society. They affirmed that protecting the nation is not only the responsibility of those who guard its borders but also of every citizen who safeguards its youth from the scourge of narcotics.

The District Administration expressed confidence that commencing this historic campaign from the Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial Museum & Library would imbue the movement with a deeper sense of purpose. By drawing inspiration from the martyrs of Operation Sindoor, the heroism of the Indian Armed Forces and the resilience of the people of Rajouri, the youth of the district have transformed the Prime Minister’s call into a solemn pledge of service, patriotism and nation-building, taking a decisive step towards realizing the vision of a Nasha Mukt Yuva for a Viksit Bharat.

DC Rajouri reviews progress of Heritage Conservation Projects; Stresses timely completion

‎‎RAJOURI, AUGUST 01: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of works being executed under the Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Heritage Sites and Monuments across the district.

‎‎During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed project-wise review of all ongoing heritage conservation works and took stock of their physical progress. He sought updates from the concerned officers on each project and reviewed the status of works to ensure their timely ex*****on.

‎‎Emphasising timely completion of all heritage conservation projects, the DC directed the concerned officers to ensure that no unnecessary delays occur in the ex*****on of works. He instructed them to monitor the progress of each project on a daily basis and take prompt measures to resolve any issues so that all works are completed within the stipulated timelines while maintaining the prescribed conservation standards.

‎‎The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Malikzada Sheraz Ul Haq, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar Sihag, Chief Planning Officer Maqsood Ahmed, while Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B) Circle Rajouri Manzoor Ahmed and Executive Engineers of PWD (R&B) Divisions Rajouri, Kalakote, Thanamandi, Nowshera and Koteranka attended the meeting through virtual mode.

*DC Visits Flood-Affected Madina Colony, Directs Restoration of Essential Services on Priority*

RAJOURI, JULY 27: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today visited the flood-affected Madina Colony in Rajouri town to assess the situation on the ground and review the restoration of essential services.

During the visit, the *Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure restoration of electricity supply by this evening. He also instructed the Jal Shakti Department to restore water supply at the earliest and ensure the availability of water tankers to meet the immediate drinking water needs of the affected residents.*

*Emphasising the importance of public health and hygiene, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Municipal authorities to undertake intensive sanitation and cleanliness drives in the affected area to prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases.*

The *Deputy Commissioner also directed the Tehsildar Rajouri to conduct a detailed assessment of the losses suffered by the affected households due to the recent floods so that necessary relief measures could be taken in accordance with the established norms.*

*The DC also directed the Executive Engineer, PHE, to make the existing borewell functional at the earliest* in consultation with the Executive Engineer, Ground Water and the Executive Engineer, Mechanical, to ensure a reliable water supply for the affected residents.

*Interacting with the local residents, the Deputy Commissioner assured them of full support from the District Administration and reiterated that all necessary measures were being taken to restore normalcy at the earliest.*

*District admin facilitates Prime Minister’s virtual interaction under Viksit Vibrant Village Programme*

RAJOURI, JULY 26: The district administration Rajouri today facilitated the virtual interaction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with participants of the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme from the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bungalow, Rajouri.

The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma; Additional District Development Commissioner, Malikzada Sheraz Ul Haq; Additional Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar Sihag; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Mohd Rafeeq; District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Akhil Arya along with other district officers.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister engaged with participants from across the country who had earned the opportunity to visit the Vibrant Villages of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand after excelling in the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme Quiz. Participants from different parts of India shared their experiences and insights gained during their visits to the border villages.

The interaction provided a platform for participants to reflect on their learnings and reaffirm their commitment towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

Addressing the participants, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of strengthening the connection between citizens and India's border villages. He emphasised that these villages are symbols of the nation's cultural heritage, resilience and strategic importance. He also called upon educational institutions across the country to organise educational tours to Vibrant Villages and other border areas so that students can better understand their rich traditions, developmental progress and vital role in national security, while fostering a deeper sense of patriotism and national integration.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote awareness about border areas and encourage greater public participation in nation-building efforts. He noted that programmes such as the Viksit Vibrant Village initiative play a vital role in showcasing the immense potential of border villages and integrating them into the country's development journey.

The programme concluded with the district officers reaffirming their commitment to advancing the objectives of the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme and extending full support to initiatives aimed at the holistic and sustainable development of border areas.

DC Rajouri addresses press conference, assures full support to flash flood-affected families

RAJOURI, JULY 21: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today addressed a press conference and briefed the media on the losses caused by the recent flash floods, ongoing rescue and relief operations and measures being taken for the rehabilitation of affected families.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that four persons were initially reported missing. Of these, three bodies have been recovered, while search operations are continuing to trace the remaining missing person. Multi-agency rescue operations involving the SDRF, NDRF, Police, Indian Army and other departments are being carried out in close coordination.

He said that nearly 230 people have been rescued and evacuated from the affected areas. Around 450 people are currently staying at relief centres, where the administration is providing food, drinking water, bedding, healthcare and other essential facilities.

Expressing grief over the loss of lives, the Deputy Commissioner said the administration stands firmly with the bereaved families. Immediate admissible relief has already been provided and every possible assistance will continue to be extended. He appealed to the public to strictly follow weather advisories, avoid venturing near rivers, streams and other vulnerable areas and urged parents to ensure that children do not enter flood-prone locations during adverse weather conditions.

For emergency assistance, citizens have been advised to contact the District Control Room at 01962-295895. He said all departments remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to any emergency.

Restoration of roads, power and water supply is being undertaken on a war footing. Detailed assessment of damage to private property and public infrastructure will be carried out and assistance will be provided as per the prescribed norms.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with media persons and sought their feedback to ensure comprehensive coverage of all affected areas.

*During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances and assessed the ground situation. The Deputy Commissioner assured the affected families that the District Administration is fully committed to providing all possible assistance and ensuring timely relief and rehabilitation.*

*The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to remain on the ground, closely monitor the situation and ensure the prompt restoration of essential services wherever affected. He also instructed the field functionaries to maintain close coordination and extend all necessary support to the affected population.*

In view of the prevailing heavy rainfall and the possibility of a sudden rise in the water level of rivers and nallahs, residents of the following identified vulnerable areas are advised to remain on high alert and strictly follow the directions of the District Administration:

* Tariq Bridge area/MLA House Colony
* Low-lying areas of Nowshera Town
* Bela area, Nowshera (including adjoining residential localities)
* Ati, Kheora & Salani bridge
* Other habitations situated along riverbanks and flood channels

*Advisory*

1. *Residents living in the above vulnerable areas are advised to voluntarily shift elderly persons, children, pregnant women, persons with disabilities and essential belongings to safer locations immediately, without waiting for water levels to rise.*

2. Citizens should remain prepared for evacuation at short notice and fully cooperate with Police, SDRF, Civil Defence, Revenue and other emergency response teams.

3. Do not venture near rivers, nallahs, bridges or flood channels to witness rising water levels.

4. Vehicle owners are advised to remove vehicles from low-lying parking areas and avoid unnecessary travel.

5. Residents should keep essential medicines, drinking water, dry food, important documents and mobile phones fully charged.

6. Citizens are requested to strictly comply with traffic advisories issued by the Police and the District Administration.

7.Any signs of flooding, landslides, breach of embankments or stranded persons should be reported immediately to the District Emergency Operations Centre.
