Chutneys are never just accompaniments β€” they carry stories of seasons, kitchens, and people.

Chutney by Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal is a beautiful compendium of chutneys from across India and beyond, weaving together recipes, ingredients, illustrations, photographs, and food histories. I’m grateful to have contributed the Chhattisgarh section, documenting flavours I grew up with and recipes that rarely find their way into cookbooks.

If you enjoy food with stories and soul, this is a book worth collecting β€” and gifting.
Link to the book is in Rushina’s bio and in my Instagram story highlights.

Made a strawberry banana cake last night, and it felt AMAZING 😍! Being in the kitchen has been one of my happy places, and getting back to it after being unwell for a fortnight feels like a big win πŸ’ͺ. Two weeks of rest did me good, and now it’s time to get back in the kitchen (and on here!) πŸ’•.

Sometimes, taking a step back is what you need to rediscover yourself. Rest, recharge, and come back stronger πŸ’†. Here’s to self-healing, self-love, and strawberry banana cake πŸ“πŸŒπŸ˜‹

Matar poha is love! ❀️
I like to make matar poha without haldi. Khoob saari finely chopped green chillies for zing and thoda sugar and lemon juice to balance it all. 🀌✨
Let’s enjoy the fresh matar season til it lasts! 😝

I love reading descriptions of food as a part of prose. I think food gives a personal angle to the story defining the characters in a way that they come alive. If we know about the food described we feel more close to the characters and the story becomes relatable. If we have no idea about the food it builds curiosity and adds to the knowledge about a new culture. In anyway food is a connection we all relate to!

Do you know which dish is spoken about in the highlights of the page?
Also, let me know if you have read this short story by a prominent writer, a Pulitzer winner!
