Mount Shivling (6,543 m)

Representing lord Shiva’s might and benevolence, the mystical Shivling mountain in Gangotri National Park is a dream-climb for every experienced mountaineer. The climb demands excellent fitness, stamina and a great deal of mental fortitude as it involves technical navigation through steep ice faces, rocky ridges, and crevassed glaciers. The expedition to Shivling peak takes 20 to 30 days and the route passes through significant religious and scenic sites like the Gangotri Temple, Gaumukh (the source of the Ganges River), and the Tapovan meadow.

As per sources, the first successful summit was achieved in 1974 by an Indian team led by Hukam Singh ji from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force.
