Are we making GenAi BOTs of FAQ BOTs??
Old governance + New technology = Expensive disappointment.
GenAI cannot transform an organisation that refuses to transform itself.
Over the last few months, we at have seen an interesting pattern across organisations exploring GenAI adoption.
The first excitement comes with:
“We want a GenAI BOT that can answer anything!”
And then reality hits:
“Wait… what if our data gets exposed to the internet?”
“Finance data must not be visible to operations.”
“Everyone should only access the data they already have access to.”
And suddenly, the dream of enterprise-wide intelligence turns into a locked-down FAQ bot.
But here’s the paradox
If we are so afraid of internal people seeing internal data —
do we really have a technology challenge, or a trust challenge?
Here are two hard questions every CXO needs to ask themselves:
1. If we want value fast, why not start by giving the automation power to the senior leadership?
They are already allowed access to enterprise-wide data.
So why not roll out a full-capability GenAI BOT to decision-makers who can drive outcomes instantly?
2. Why can’t we modernize our mindset around data transparency?
If an organisation truly wants to be data-driven —
it must democratise data instead of protecting silos.
The companies winning today are those that break walls, not build higher ones.
