Chitkala is experimental learning platform for young learners to inculcate creative thought process

01/05/2024

At CHITKALA, we take pride in pioneering “Experimental Learning Platform“. We see that every young learner is naturally curious, active, and creative. We recognize this immense potential in every young learner and aim to cultivate it through a unique approach.

We are a learner-centric platform and we regularly host workshops, activities and sessions designed to inspire and motivate young minds while fostering cognitive, studio, and innovative skills.
We want to bring them back to hands on, activity based learning in complementing the digital platforms.

Also, in the light of the new Indian educational framework (NEP-2020) there is a radical shift in the teaching and learning encouraging project based learning. Some principles from the new policy that we are targeting are critical thinking, problem solving and early introduction to technology enabling learners to be adaptive to the changing fields of knowledge.

We believe - the constructive habit once picked at early age – learners apply it subconsciously throughout their journey.
As per the ancient expression – A child should be fed healthy food & taught only to eat and it knows how to digest !!!

Past Workshops/Activities

Workshop Title: Toy based learning (cognitive activity based & on toy based pedagogy towards fun-filled, engaging and stress-free learning)
Theme: simplified learning and age-appropriate curiosity driven learning

This was to explore , novel technology and arts through the means of simple to complex toys. It helped learners to trigger and through to the . The basic intention was to bring them back to and make them .

As our focus is on applicative knowledge and case studies we emphasized on , and .

It was interesting for facilitators to see how quickly these young minds grasp fundamental concepts and use correct vocabulary during the interaction.

We are committed to prioritize the privacy of the participating children.

Past Workshops/Activities
Workshop Title: How things work? (Curiosity driven and hands-on activity focuses on mechanical concepts and elements of mechanisms in everyday functional products)
Theme: Active discovery, goal oriented learning and perseverance

It was organised to introduce simple concepts of motion in mechanical systems followed by demonstrations and discussion using various everyday products with step by dismantling and assembling with focus on mechanisms. Learners were introduced to appropriate vocabulary with discussions on queries and interests. A hands-on challenge was given to all learners to design, make & fine-tune a working mechanism using basic materials.

It was interesting for facilitators to see the of young minds to make things functional using their own techniques and also peer discussions to trouble-shoot problems.

We are committed to prioritize the privacy of the participating children.

Past Workshops/Activities
Workshop Title: Design thinking on real life problems
Theme: Problem solving in a local context with design process

The workshop was focused on introducing the learners to the also largely referred as . The important aspects such as human-centric nature, exploratory methodology and creative problem solving were demonstrated through variety of design case-studies.
The design brief was based on day-to-day real-life issues where one always feels the probable improvements in the products or services. Learners witnessed and practiced iterative and non-linear approach of problem solving during this activity. They were given a free licence to act differently and encouraged thinking by doing, hands-on testing and generate lots of idea followed by a quick evaluation and validation.
In the later part of the activity the participants prepared and presented their prototypes and explained their proposals. The activity was concluded with and distribution of goodies.
It was nice for the facilitators see to the along the way of . The participants had , they learned and yes; worked like crazy.
We are committed to prioritize the privacy of the participating children.
