Rich, earthy tones, sustainable alternatives to store bought paints fostering a deep connection with Nature is something I absolutely love making ! Some of the most vibrant colours in Nature can be found right in your neighbourhood or your own home especially in Spring and Summers .
Here I have made a beautiful golden yellow with parijat ( night jasmine ) flowers and deep reds from beetroots and pomegranate , that lovely transparent violet blue is from red cabbage . The paints are quite watery , I have to mix gum Arabic next time when I make it a bit thick . Also I need to find a way to make these pigments archival .. any idea how to do that ?

Where light breaks through …

Fifteen days of noticing ..
small watercolour studies of atmosphere , trees and light mostly and whatever else I noticed everyday , the hornbill is an exception , the rest of the studies being abstracts of nature ..
Each day I look forward to making these quick works that is both relaxing as well as invigorating too !
