A piece of cloth containing the killer's DNA has been discovered from a crime scene. You have three suspects. Who did it?
Duration: 3.5 hours
Level: School students (Class IX-XII)

To clarify, students will NOT get blood stained cloths from crime-scenes!! They will do a basic restriction digestion followed by gel electrophoresis to discover unique band patterns given by three different genotypes. They will then compare these patterns against DNA extracted from a piece of cloth and digested similarly!! The principle of the experiment is the same as that used by forensic scientists to identify criminals.

Registrations for the third session of the 'Molecular Biology for Young Scientists' workshop are now open.
These are advanced, intensive, paid, 1-day workshops for B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD students that cover gene expression studies and involve RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis and PCR.
We have been conducting such workshops since 2019 (with a brief pause during the pandemic!!), with very high ratings, and participants coming from all over the country.
This set will have 8 one-day long workshops starting from 01-Nov-2022. The registrations will be open until all seats are filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

We are very excited to announce the latest edition of the workshop: Biostatistics: A User's Perspective, under IISER Pune's Short Term Courses Program. This is a paid course aimed at undergraduates, post-graduates, PhD scholars and professionals in biology.
This is the sixth time the course is being offered and the previous editions have received very positive reviews (4.37 / 5.0). The ratings and comments can be seen on the given website.
This course is entirely from a user's perspective. It does not go into the mathematical details, but focuses on an intuitive understanding of the statistical concepts, data interpretation and design of experiments. Although reasonably generic, this course should be particularly useful for molecular biologists and pharma-related industry professionals.
Mode: Online
Dates: 10-11 and 17-18 December, 2022.
