Vowels: The sound of words.

In the English alphabet, there are five letters called vowels- a,e,i,o,u
These vowels make short sound and long sounds.

Short sounds are heard in the words like cat, pen, ink, cot, jug……

Long sounds are heard in words like, cake, leaf, ice, boat, unicorn…..

The Vowel Hand method from Jolly Phonics is a simple approach to understanding the sounds easily. Children may learn about short and long vowels in a fun way by using the vowel hand.
