One Last Dive—what a night

Overwhelming, wonderful, and everything we could have hoped for—our favourite rooftop filled with friends, laughter, endless hugs, and kegs pouring their last pints. We couldn’t have asked for a better send-off, and we’re grateful to everyone who showed up and made it one for the books.

Cheers to everyone who made Dive what it was—whether this was your regular hang with friends, your go-to for catching sunsets after work, a cozy corner for you and a book, the place where you brought all your friends or made new ones.

Thank you for being part of this chapter—until we meet again!

ONE LAST DIVE — tomorrow is the day

The entire team is coming down to bid farewell to our first-ever taproom. It’s been an incredible chapter, and we couldn’t have asked for a better home. We’ll be there all evening—no frills, no fuss, just a night to drink beer with friends and celebrate everything that made Dive special.

We’ll see you all tomorrow!

The last few days have been a blur—in the best way possible. Seeing so many of you drop in (multiple times!) before we close our doors this Friday has meant the world to us.

Cooking is an art. Besides being the basis of nutrition and health, culinary idiosyncrasies are at the core of our cultural identity. Combining and processing raw ingredients to compose delicious dishes is a creative act. However, the increasing availability of data and the advent of computational methods for their scrutiny are dramatically changing the artistic outlook toward gastronomy. The application of data-driven strategies for investigating gastronomic questions has created an all-new paradigm for studying food and cooking.

Prof. Bagler is known for his pioneering research in ‘Computational Gastronomy.’ By building keystone data repositories, algorithms, and applications, his lab has established the foundations of this emerging data science that blends food with artificial intelligence. Innovative research from his lab has contributed to this niche dealing with food, flavours, nutrition, health, and sustainability.

Have you heard of a concept called Third Place? We came across it back in 2021 before opening Dive (thanks to ). In sociology, the third place refers to the social surroundings that are separate from the two usual social environments of home ("first place") and the workplace ("second place"). Referring to places such as bars, cafes, clubs, bookstores, theatres (among others), third places have a cultural significance in establishing feelings of a sense of place and allowing people of differing backgrounds to cross paths.

Over the last 3 years, we noticed that DIVE started soaking in characteristics of a ‘third place’. The extent of this became clear when we had to shut DIVE abruptly in May 2024 when we realized just how many people missed DIVE as an everyday bar and what it meant not just to us but also to our regulars – a third place for soo many.

Last 3 months have been tough for a small business like ours, which can’t easily absorb these kinds of sudden shocks. We’re glad now we can finally get those taps back to life with DIVE’s re-opening around the corner.

Expect a few changes in DIVE 2.0. We’ve maintained the same vibes, the good feels and the familiarity of your favourite third place, while embracing our dive-bar-spirit!
