Today 10 patients were operated in ophthalmology OT . 9 cataract ( 7 with Phaco and 2 with SICS) and 1 pterygium in CHC rajpora . Dr Waseem ( Oph consultant ) , dr Mohsin ( Anaes) and the entire OT team did a commendable job .

60 yrs female,,, HTN on CCBs,,, Started with BL pedel edema and Puffiness from last two weeks,,,
Investigations showed a creatinine of 1.9 and urine showed protein 2 + and 4-5 RBCs,,,, CBC was normal,,,USG abdomen showed normal sized kidney with increased echopattern,,,
ANA negative,,
24 hrs urinary protein showed a proteinuria of 2.3 gms,,,
Lipid profile was normal,,
Patient was planned for renal Biopsy,,,, and done today at CHC Rajpora,,, first time in South kashmir in a govt hospital,,,
Patient is stable post procedure,,,,

CHC Rajpora in full gear with its men and machinery ready to meet any medical eventuality due to inclement weather. Staff made it to hospital on foot and partially by vehicular transport though roads were not fully fit for drive.
It took one and a half hours to drive over five kilometers. Four LSCS operations were performed today which included emergency c. sections

*Mouthwash can kill Corona in 30 seconds: Study*

Scientists at Cardiff University discovered mouthwash containing at least 0.07 percent cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) showed “promising signs” of reducing transmission of the virus, reported Aljazeera.

Their preliminary report, which is yet to be peer-reviewed, supports a study published last week that found mouthwash containing CPC helps in reducing the viral load of people infected with the Corona.

It comes ahead of a clinical trial on patients at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff to find out whether mouthwash can reduce Corona in a patient’s saliva. The findings are expected to be published in early 2021.

Dentyl is the only UK mouthwash brand that is part of the clinical trial led by Professor David Thomas from Cardiff University.

“Although this in-vitro study is very encouraging and is a positive step, more clinical research is now clearly needed,” Dr Thomas told the PA news agency, as quoted by the Independent newspaper.

“We need to understand if the effect of over-the-counter mouthwashes on the Corona virus achieved in the laboratory can be reproduced in patients, and we look forward to completing our clinical trial in early 2021.”
