The Anjuman Ittehad Gujjar and Bakerwal President Tazeem Choudhary organised a press conference In Mendhar office regarding the ongoing demolition drive affecting Gujjar and Bakerwal communities in Jammu and Kashmir. During the conference, members of the organisation expressed serious concern over the demolition of houses, shelters, and structures belonging to tribal families.
The Speaker said that many poor and nomadic families are being affected by the drive and appealed to the administration to adopt a humanitarian approach while dealing with tribal communities. They demanded proper rehabilitation, verification of land records, and protection of the rights of Gujjar and Bakerwal people under constitutional and tribal safeguards.
The organisation also urged the government to stop alleged harassment of tribal families and called for dialogue to resolve the issue peacefully. Community representatives stressed the importance of protecting the livelihood, identity, and traditional rights of Gujjar and Bakerwal residents across Jammu and Kashmir.

*DC Poonch reviews SRO-43 cases at District Level-Screening-cum-Coordination Committee meeting*
*POONCH, MAY 21:* Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of the District Level Screening-cum-Coordination Committee in his office chamber to review the SRO-43 cases of next of Kin of civilians and belt force personnel killed in the militancy related incidents.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Muhammad Sayeed; DySP Hqr. Neeraj Sharma, representatives from BSF Khanetar, Rep. of Hq. 93 Inf. Bgd., 10. Inf. Bgd., 6-Sector RR and other concerned officers.
The ADC gave a detailed briefing on the current status of each case. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for timely disposal of the same, noting that the affected families have high hopes from the government.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned departments to adopt a proactive approach and ensure that all necessary formalities and verifications are completed well in time for SRO-43 cases.

Missing Alert: 28-Year-Old Youth Missing From Garnari Dhoke Rupri Area
Sabar Hussain S/o Mohd Sadeeq, resident of Koteranka (Phalwari Mahal), aged 28 years, has reportedly gone missing from Garnari Dhoke Rupri since 14-05-2026 at around 1:00 PM.
According to family members, there has been no information about his whereabouts since then. The poor family has appealed to the general public to help in tracing him and share any information if available.
