This world mental health day, taking a moment to think of all those who have helped me be who I am today, and all those who continue to help me become a better therapist. My teachers, mentors, supervisors, seniors and peers who have walked by me and still do. All those who have believed in my ability to make a difference, in turn helping me believe in myself. All those who have helped me take care of my mental health, and who have trained me to take care of other people's mental health..All those who continue to inspire, and make an impact in the mental health field.

We often say, finding the right therapist is like dating. It's about finding the right fit. That there is no right or wrong and there are as many approaches as there are therapists.
And yet, there are certain things which are common across therapists. Above and beyond their specialization, preferred approach or therapeutic modality, is their humanness and ethics. These are the true tests of whether you have found yourselves a good therapist or not- the green flags in a therapeutic alliance.
