A 56-year-old patient with carcinoma p***s successfully underwent Video Endoscopic Inguinal Lymph Node Dissection (VEIL-ND) using a minimally invasive laparoscopic/video-endoscopic approach.

🔹 Traditionally, inguinal lymph node dissection is performed through an open approach.
🔹 This case represents a pioneering minimally invasive approach in Bihar and marks the third case performed by our team using this technique.

✨ Benefits of the minimally invasive approach may include:

• Reduced postoperative morbidity

• Potentially faster recovery and early healing

🏥 In-Service Education Programme on “Patient Safety: Elevating Patient Care”

An In-Service Education Programme on “Patient Safety: Elevating Patient Care” was held at IGIMS, Patna on 2 September 2026, organized by the 2nd Year Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing students (Session 2024–2026) for B.Sc. Nursing 7th Semester students, Nursing Officers and Senior Nursing Officers.

The programme focused on strengthening a culture of patient safety, quality nursing care and professional responsibility, with sessions on medication errors, blood transfusion safety, fall-risk assessment, infection prevention, environmental safety, communication errors, and ethical & legal issues in clinical practice.

The event was inaugurated through a Lamp Lighting Ceremony in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony, Pre-test, Certificate Distribution and the National Anthem.

🩺 Remarkable Surgical Success at IGIMS, Patna! 🏥✨

A challenging case of near-total amputation of the wrist following an assault with a sharp weapon was successfully managed at IGIMS, Patna.

The injury involved:
🔹 Multiple/all flexor tendons of the wrist
🔹 Sharp cut with fracture of the distal radius
🔹 Injury to the median nerve
🔹 Injury to the radial artery

⏱️ Duration of surgery: Approximately 5 hours
🌙 The complex emergency procedure was performed in the Emergency OT, with the surgery successfully completed at around 3:30 AM.

👨‍⚕️ The surgery was performed by Dr. Kumar Chandan, Department of Orthopaedics, IGIMS, Patna, with dedicated multidisciplinary emergency care.

📅 Six months after surgery: The patient has shown a satisfactory functional recovery, reflecting the importance of timely intervention, advanced surgical expertise, and comprehensive rehabilitation.
