📢 At the launch of the Guwahati Clean Air Plan, artist and Goodwill Ambassador to Clean Air Joi Barua
spoke of air once breathed without thinking, of places once remembered by smell as much as sight.

“Air pollution diminishes our sense of smell which is crucial to shaping memories of our childhood,” he said.

Through the song 'Tejimola', themes of suffering, nature, and environmental awareness came together in a form that was deeply familiar. Barua urged that clean air conversations must reach beyond the privileged—because the loss of clean air is felt by all.

iFOREST, in partnership with the Assam Pollution Control Board has launched Guwahati’s first hotspot-based Clean Air Action Plan.

The plan identifies where pollution concentrates, what drives it, and how targeted action can deliver cleaner air.

At the launch, Dr. Pratima Singh, Director, Air Pollution, iFOREST presented a data-driven overview of:
➡️Guwahati’s air quality status.
➡️Pollution hotspots and emission sources using monitoring data and satellite analysis.

Key actions proposed in the plan:
➡️Zero open waste burning through better collection and enforcement.
➡️Clean fuels for households and commercial cooking.
➡️Stronger transport management and cleaner public transport.
