ITD Update: Income Tax Return Form of ITR-1 and ITR-4 are enabled to file through Online mode with prefilled data at the e-filing portal. Excel Utilities of ITR-1 and ITR-4 for AY 2025-26 are also available for filing.

Start filing your Income Tax return for the AY 2025-26

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), via its press release dated 27th May 2025, has extended the due date for filing ITR for Assessment Year 2025–26 from 31st July 2025 to 15th September 2025.

The extension is attributed to system development and integration necessitated by:

➡ Structural changes and content revision in the recently notified ITR forms, aimed at simplifying taxpayer compliance and enhancing transparency and enabling accurate reporting, and

➡ Availability of TDS credits to start reflecting early June, thereby limiting the effective window for tax filing.

ITD Update 1st Aug 2022
DGIT (S) Notification No 5/2022 issued for Reduction of time limit for verification of ITR from 120 days to 30 days of transmitting the data of ITR electronically. Refer Detailed Notification.

More than 5.1 crore ITRs have been filed till 30th July 2022. Over 57.51 lac were filed on 30th July 2022 itself.
Do remember to file yours, if not filed as yet. to avoid late fee.
