MSwipe Raises Money From Matrix Partners..

Mobile Point of Sales (PoS) payment company MSwipe has raised an undisclosed amount of money from Venture Capital firm Matrix Partners. Point of Sales payment companies allow retailers and small merchants to accept credit card and debit card payments, and this service is particularly useful for e-commerce companies for accepting card-on-delivery payments. MSwipe and Sequoia Capital backed Prizm Payments partnered to launch Swipeon, an mPoS solution, last July.

MSwipe has applications for Java, Android and iOS devices, and its device plugs into a mobile phones audio jack to enable payments.

Nokia Introduces Trending Topics To RockeTalk As Part Of Trendify Campaign..

Nokia India, as a part of its “Trendify” campaign for its Lumia 510 Windows Phone device, has partnered with mobile focused social networking app, RockeTalk, to create a mobile media property with trending topics within the app.

Trendify on RockeTalk offers users trending videos, photos, voice and music content, which can be consumed, shared and made to trend, further. Users can discover trends daily, as they are made and participate in shaping them, according to Maxus.

The campaign also features daily competitions where users have to predict what will top the charts the next day, for their name to be featured on a leaderboard. Interestingly, the ‘share’ function of RockeTalk has been renamed as “share and trendify”, which, according to Maxus*, the agency which has executed this campaign, doesn’t alter the normal user behavior of RockeTalk users.

Hindustan Times Launches Augmented Reality App ARPlus..

Following the launch of an augmented reality app Alive by the Times of India, HT Media appears to have launched its own app, ARPlus, for its newspaper, The Hindustan Times. The app is available for download on Android and iOS platform, and allows readers of the newspaper to interact with a print medium, for access to rich media content. Hindustan Times readers need to point the app, which opens up in camera mode, towards the ARPlus logo on the newspaper. The app, then scans an image/content and looks for feature points within the image and match those against a backend database and pulls up the multimedia content on their screen, for new video content.

The app description on the Google Play Store indicates that the app will be used to promote online content as well as for advertising.

33% of consumer brands will integrate payment into branded mobile apps by 2015-Gartner..

By 2015, one-third of consumer brands will integrate payment into their branded mobile apps, according to Gartner, Inc.

In the next three years, this trend will unfold so that brands can sell directly and enhance the customer experience. This trend will be more pronounced for brands with retail outlets, such as those in the fashion, food and drink, grocery and entertainment sectors.

"Many consumer brands have launched branded apps that focus on marketing activities such as offering product information, checking loyalty points, and collecting coupons and offers. A few early adopters have integrated payment functions into their apps.

"Brands need to help consumers make purchasing decisions in an efficient and personalized way," said Sandy Shen, research director at Gartner

Google Maps Extends Live Traffic Coverage To Six New Indian Cities

Google has expanded its live traffic coverage of Google Maps service in India in six new Indian cities including Panaji, Vadodara, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, reports AndroidOS.in. This is apart from the six Indian cities in which Google offered traffic data earlier.
