I have gone through the study on the basis of which WHO has said that babies can be started on cows milk after 6 months of age.
Parents are happy because cow's milk is more economical but go through study once:
1.Done in high income group countries
2.Number of studies in meta-analysis is small
3.Itself says more studies are needed in lower income group countries to establish safety of Cow's milk.
4.Calls it's conclusion as low certainty evidence.
So only if you have affordability issue then go for cow's milk with iron supplements other stick to Infant formula.
Vitamin D supplementation is must for all babies less than 1 yr of age.
If your drops contain 800 IU in 1 ml then you need to give 0.5 ml once a day everyday upto 1 year of age.
If your drops contain 400 IU per ml then you need to give 1 ml per day everyday upto 1 yr of age.
