SITE VISITS:
While they're meant to check adherence to design, for us it's much more than that. We check if all that we had imagined, in the drawings and models, is being realized. We check if we got the scale and proportions right, if the views are being captured, if the experience of moving through spaces matches our imagined sequence. It's time to let all that sink in.
Did you notice the shuttering in place for the plywood form finished concrete with teakwood strips? Eagerly waiting to see the result.

Covered outdoor galleries form the movement spine of the exhibition halls. These semi outdoor spaces further open out into Science Parks, surrounding the building. What would've been a primarily inward program was turned into an inside-outside experience. It gave the visitor flexibility, to navigate the building in their own way, including the roofscape by making it accessible.

The program for the institute was small but the building needed to represent an institutional scale, for which we set the spaces apart and introduced outdoor galleries. You move through these as you 'discover' the exhibition halls.

SCIENCE CENTRE, Amravati
Awarded through a design competition, this is a government project. A place where students can explore, experiment with their ideas. The surrounding buildings are low height, giving this structure a great vantage. The ramp gives it a strong identity, even when seen from afar, while making the roof accessible. The landmark is further emphasised by the vibrant colour.

WORKPLACE, Mumbai
The two lines, the light streak and brass strip, connect the entrance to the work area. The two lines disappear into the far wall. The threshold for the private spaces on the right, has been brought out to meet the work area flooring. This is also emphasized by the lines.

WORKSPACE, Mumbai
A workplace for a pipeline construction and engineering firm. The colour of their equipment from site, brought into the arrival space. Emphasized further by delineation as a floating box.

WORKSPACE, Mumbai
The main work area is open and collaborative, seating the majority of people. It has a community table instead of desks, since the company doesn't believe in hierarchy either. The floating storage adds to the openness, while taking care of functionality.
The large and slot window are new punctures. They bring in views of the landscape and sky outside, which were previously blocked out.
