𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗜𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 "𝗨𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮" 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆?

We only think about carrying an umbrella when it rains. But in your career, if you wait for the storm to start, you’re already getting wet.

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿; 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀.

How to build your "𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮":

• 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Don’t just master your current role. Build a "just-in-case" skill set like data literacy, public speaking, or a new certification. These are the ribs of your umbrella.

• 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁" 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: Don’t network only when you need a job. Relationships built when things are going well are the ones that protect you during a crisis.

• 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆: Having a "Plan B" isn't pessimism; it's leverage. It allows you to lead with a level head while others are scrambling.

The best time to buy an umbrella is when the sun is shining. Preparation is the difference between 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 and 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁.

Driving home last night in torrential rain, after facilitating a great trivia night, I was reminded of this question that came up (𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦), and it got me thinking.

“𝗜’𝗺 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲.” - 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘥𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳

In business, this doesn’t mean power plays or ultimatums. It means creating value so compelling that the other side sees partnership as the obvious choice.

Whether it’s:
• Delivering more than promised
• Designing a win-win collaboration
• Solving a client’s real pain point

…the best “offers” are the ones rooted in trust, value, and long-term relationships. Because when your offer aligns perfectly with someone’s needs, there’s no need for persuasion; it’s a natural yes.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 “𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿” 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 (𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱) 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿?

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀... 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲?

From power poses to “did I just invent a new dance move?” moments, this workshop had laughter, aha-moments, and plenty of practice.

Here’s a quick throwback - where body language spoke louder than words, jokes became learning tools, and everyone left a little more confident (and a lot more animated).

Because when communication clicks, magic happens.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 — 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱.

When Mohammed Siraj woke up on the final day of the Oval Test against England, he did something simple yet powerful — he Googled “𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲" and downloaded a Cristiano Ronaldo wallpaper. He allowed that word to guide his mindset for the day.

The result? A performance built on focus, discipline, and 100% commitment.

In a post-match interview, he explained his mindset, saying he always believed he could do it for his country. His goal was to focus on bowling in the right areas and giving 100%, regardless of the outcome.

Success isn’t just about skill; it’s about 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. A clear intention set at the start of the day can shape your ex*****on, whether you’re bowling in a Test match or leading a high-stakes project.

𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻: Define your “word of the day,” align your actions with it, and commit fully — the scoreboard will take care of itself.

𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲

I’ve been lucky to experience this firsthand — from teachers who shaped my schooling years, to mentors and leaders who guided me in my professional journey. Their lessons weren’t just about knowledge, but about sparking curiosity and encouraging me to think differently.

That’s exactly the spirit I carry forward with 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗹𝗱. Through gamified engagement and 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀, I try to bring learning to life — the way the best teachers do. Because when learning is fun, involved, and shared, it stays.

So today, on Teacher’s Day, I celebrate not just the teachers in classrooms but also the mentors, leaders, and facilitators in workplaces who continue to influence us in ways we’ll never forget.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽!!!

I was recently delighted to be a part of a fireside chat with former Indian cricketer 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗹, at a corporate event in Goa. Among the many anecdotes, he narrated an unforgettable story from the 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟯 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗶-𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹.

India needed just 50 runs to win against England and were cruising along. In the dressing room, 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗮 spotted a champagne bottle and thought — 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙩.

But the bottle wasn’t chilled. In trying to hold it just to have a look, it 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆. His captain, Kapil Dev, was furious. The message was clear: the game isn’t over until the scoreboard says it is.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆:
• Never celebrate before the work is truly finished.
• Success demands collective focus until the very end.
• And when things go off-script (as they often do), adaptability makes the difference.

Madipa summarized the session with a powerful reminder:

“𝗪𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲.”

From the dressing room to the boardroom, the rules remain the same: stay focused, stay united, and finish strong.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀?

Came across this iconic line stamped on a tissue paper at an airport cafe.

‘दाने दाने पे लिखा है खाने वाले का नाम’

They say even food has pre-decided ownership — what’s meant for you will find its way, and what’s not yours won’t stay, no matter how hard you try.
But think about it — isn’t that true not just for food, but also for opportunities, success, and connections in life?

In business, careers, or even relationships, your share of success already has your name on it. Some deals, projects, or clients are simply destined to be yours — even in a crowded market.

Here’s the twist, though: unlike food, opportunities don’t just land on your plate. You’ve got to show up, pitch, follow up (yes, sometimes more than you’d like), and deliver real value.

So the next time you’re chasing that client or project, remember: maybe your name is already written on it — you just need to step up and claim it.

Ever notice how some drivers try to inch forward before the light turns green?

In life too, jumping ahead before the right time rarely gets you anywhere faster — it just adds risk.

Sometimes the smartest move is to wait for your green.

Random thought while riding the escalator

I noticed a man ahead of me trying to walk faster… but he was on the down escalator.

It made me think — how often do we do this in life? Work harder, hustle more… but in a direction that’s actually pulling us back? Sometimes, it’s not about speed. It’s about making sure the escalator you’re on is going up.

Which escalator are you on?
