patch design studio
patch is a young, multi-disciplinary design studio started by Ipsit Patel and Rika Chaudhry. We define built environments in the widest possible way.
We believe that built environments in diverse spheres contribute in various ways to individuals and businesses. We realize every client and program is different and hence each project brings with it, its own unique criteria. As a team, we believe in providing design solutions that work at every scale, creating cohesion between the overall contexts to the minutest details. Our scope of work thus ra

A warm, inviting café where the brand’s identity is subtly translated into the space—through bold accents, upholstery and furniture details. Teakwood tables paired with rattan-backed seating bring in a tactile, grounded feel, while the built-in bench seating adds comfort and continuity. A mix of two tile finishes helps define zones within the space, creating visual interest without overwhelming it.
Soft lighting, earthy tones and playful pops of colour come together to create a space that feels casual, vibrant and distinctly Tata Cha.

The outdoor seating and entry set the tone for the café—open, playful and inviting. MS frames and tables, finished in the brand’s signature yellow, bring a bold visual identity, balanced by wooden table tops that add warmth and tactility.
The structure creates a light, semi-covered space while framing views in and out, making the threshold feel seamless. Existing trees are thoughtfully integrated into the design, allowing the space to breathe and stay rooted in its context. Wooden swings add a familiar, relaxed element—turning everyday seating into an experience.

Hi, I’m Ambika, the studio’s full-time personality hire, part-time architect.
I’m loud — whether it’s my design choices or my volume while talking. I love bold colours, strong patterns, and spending most of my time on site where my volume level somehow gets even higher.

The workspace was designed around the idea of openness and collaboration. Instead of closed cabins and hierarchical seating, the office follows an open desk system where everyone works together within the same environment. The intention was to create a space that feels democratic, transparent and connected — encouraging interaction while maintaining a calm and focused atmosphere.
Large work tables in warm wood tones anchor the space, bringing warmth to the otherwise restrained palette of grey seamless flooring, white ceilings and textured archi-concrete walls. Generous windows along the facade allow natural light to filter through the space, softened by blinds to create a comfortable working environment throughout the day.
Careful attention was given to the design of the work tables themselves. Switchboards and wire managers were thoughtfully integrated into the tables — a detail that Patch has developed and refined across several projects. This allows cables and devices to be managed efficiently while keeping the workspace visually clean and uncluttered.
The office includes a single enclosed conference room, equipped with a television for presentations and meetings. The conference table was custom designed as part of the project, following the same material language and functional detailing seen throughout the workspace.
Minimal interventions, honest materials and thoughtful detailing define the space — resulting in a working environment that is simple, efficient and quietly warm.

The entry to the office opens into a quiet transition space that also doubles up as a casual seating area for the team.
Designed to feel calm and welcoming, the space continues the material language seen throughout the office — grey archi-concrete textured walls paired with warm wooden tones and simple, seamless flooring. The contrast between the raw concrete finish and the warmth of wood creates a balanced and grounded environment right from the moment one enters.
A small seating nook with minimal rattan furniture was introduced to soften the space while maintaining the overall simplicity of the design. The natural textures of cane and wood bring a sense of warmth and familiarity, creating a relaxed corner that can be used for informal meetings, quick breaks, or simply a pause during the workday.
The adjoining eating area is kept equally restrained, with round tables and light wooden chairs arranged to encourage casual interaction and conversation. Positioned beside the pantry, this zone acts as a social pocket within the office — a place where work pauses and the team can gather.
Simple, honest materials, clean lines, and quiet details define the space — keeping the design minimal yet thoughtful, and very much in the language of Patch.

A quiet corner of the office designed to house the mini pantry.
Positioned along the circulation corridor, the pantry was intentionally screened from direct view so that it remains functional for the team while staying visually discreet to visitors entering the workspace. This subtle separation keeps the work areas clean and uninterrupted while still allowing easy access.
The custom bar counter was designed in-house, crafted in warm veneer with a detailed panelled base that adds depth and character to the otherwise minimal palette of the office. Above, a series of vertically framed glass panels with frosted textured glass create a soft visual filter — allowing light to pass through while maintaining privacy.
A simple pendant light was chosen to keep the language restrained, complementing the warm wooden tones and highlighting the materiality of the bar counter without overwhelming the space.
Like the rest of the office, the design stays minimal, functional and honest — letting materials, proportions and light define the experience.
